Anyone who reads this forum on a regular basis knows this, Ilona.

There are several threads on them.

This company has a long nasty history of non-payment.Didn't you use the search feature here before taking work from them?

I'm one of their idiots!

Yes this is long, and if you want, scroll to my last paragraphs which quote what I was told by them regarding what they think of "notary bashing about them on here." Then you may want to read all of this.

Usually I will not bash a company but this TITLE/signing company has little sense of business ethics and if they change, I'm sure we'll all post positive comments.

I just got paid from a mid-January closing. One month after I did the signing and called to find out the status I received a 20+ page (TWENTY SEVEN I BELIEVE!) "new notary packet" to fill-out. I had a FIT! I wrote and told them how unprofessional it was to throw me a curve like that one month later and, being a tax preparer also, there was no way I would have accepted the signing had I known this disclosed upfront... and there was still no way I had time to complete it, nor would I agree to many of the terms, some of those whose questions were not only irrelevant, but perhaps illegal.

They wanted me to sign it was okay to pull my credit report and disclose my SS# (an EIN wouldn't suffice for sole-proprietors!), amongst other things. I told them "NO WAY JOSE!"

It's beginning to appear that our profession is indeed being sabotaged because of lack of (some) notaries who do not take this job seriously. Yes companies need to protect themselves but it surely won't be at the cost to my privacy!

They agreed I could submit only 5 pages of the usual info and I finally got paid yesterday... after a few more phone calls, emails this month!

But no, last week I was traveling (in the mountains) when I received a call for a signing the next evening and agreed to do it. Only after I got home did I see it was from them again (I'd declined one the week before from them). Apparently I didn't hear them say who they were but decided to still do it since it's soooooo slow! Actually, the email said LSI but I recognized the person's name which made me do some research on here because it seemed a little strange to be both LSI and LIA! BUYER BEWARE!

I was told the borrower had the docs and it was a 40 page "modification." I'd agreed to $$. But no, I get there and it's a CW full blown 100+ page loan with trust from 1972! Of course she had a lot of paperwork to fill out including the trust info ("now where'd I put those papers... let me go see if I can find them"Wink although she'd submitted it to them and someone was too lazy to fill it out, etc. etc.

I got home and immediately sent an e-mail off telling them I was adding $25.00 (BIG DEAL!) additional fee because it was 60 more pages than I was led to believe and nearly 3 times the time. I also told them it is because of this lack of professionalism that they have a horrible reputation all over the web.

I stated I was VERY angry by his misleading me because my 12 year old son was at youth group and I ended up picking him up over 1/2 hour late when timewise I would have been over 1/2 hour early which is why I accepted the assignment 35 miles away. I told him to remember that most of us have children who depend on us and it was not okay with me to ever have to make my son wait in the dark for his mother... I'm a single parent, in the mountains with sporadic cell service. (And yes, for those wondering, the youth pastor waited but that's not the point.)

I received a voicemail the next morning from Miguel stating it was an error about the "modification" and CW does have a lot of paperwork (duh!) but he could not give me an additional $25.00 and needed me to call him. I did, no answer, no returned call from my vm.

Lastly, I'll leave you with this last statement he left on my voicemail just in case you think LIA/LSI is a "partner in business!":

"Yes, I know we have a bad reputation out there and a lot of notaries have written horrible things about us... I just want to tell you they're all lying!!!!!!!" Yes, UNQUOTE!

Re: I'm one of their idiots!

Pat, I feel for you. I have a couple of "I should have known betters" on the books right now.
The main reason I agreed to take them was that the lenders were reputable.
As for Lia, I lucked out and was busy the first few times they called and then I read the boards and said I was busy and then I read the boards some more and told them not to bother me again.
I was on the road one day with spotty reception and turned down a wonderful title company whose name was similar. Thank God I was polite.

I hope they call again.

I also have had problems getting paid by LIA, and will not accept anymore from them, but a few days ago I received a check from them for $35.0O and they don't even owe me any money. I called them regarding the check and they haven't returned my call. Anyone in Mendocino County owned money for a signing completed in December 07?
