what happened?

I got a call at 10:20 for a last minute signing tonight- I said ok it would give me just enough time to print and travel and get it signed before midnight. Checked my email over and over again but I never received anything, tried to call, left a message, found their email and emailed them, still never heard anything- maybe they dont realize that without a confirmation, borrowers info, or the docs, there is no signing happening. But I guess they will figure that out tomorrow

Well, that's one of the best excuses I've heard!
No, a tornado would be a better one. ;-P

Are they somewhere near Newport Beach? On my way home tonight I heard they had a little baby one, about 3.2 or something. Can't imagine that holding anything up... Wink Or was there another bigger one somewhere else tonight?

LOL I really have nothing to say here except I cracked up with JanetK's response. "Oh, a 3.2". I would be totally freaking out. Guess i'm tucked here safe in Florida where all we get is 4-6 hours of brutal wind and rain. Last hurricane here I was tickeled by the name. Wilma!! A childhood favorite of mine. The Wilma Flinstone caused all this damage. As I stated, nothing to say except I get a chuckle out of the nonchalant way when speaking about an earth quake. Hope everyone is have a good EOM.

A 3.2 is a hiccup. Nothing to get excited about. n/m

I gotta agree, a 3.2 is nothing!
Now a tornado would scare me to death, but earthquakes, nah- they're kinda fun!

Yep!

Anything under a 4.0 we can be fairly non-chalant about. But the Richter Scale is exponential, so I believe each .10 is 10 times stronger than the next lower number. (Someone please correct me if I've got that wrong.) So while 3.2 you might not even notice if you are walking or driving, you would notice a 4.2 and 5.2 could knock stuff off the walls.

A favorite -- and thankfully very occasional -- pasttime of people who have lived in California for a long time is guessing what number it will be whenever we feel the room quiver... We all learn to take our own demons in stride, I guess. But I'm with Christi -- tornados and hurricanes... a whole other story!! Wink

Re: Yep!

I'll take hurricanes any day over the others: you know they are coming, time to take precautions and get out of the way. Next: earthquakes, even though when you are walking through a mall and a 5.3 hits you may look like you've had too much to drink - lol. Tornados: too random for me. They are the downside to hurricanes and storms that I can do without.

CA is not the only place that gets earthquakes

In Southern IL where I am, we are along the New Madrid fault line. There have been several earthquakes that have done considerable amount of damage over the years. I remember being in confirmation at church on a Sat morning in 7th grade. The building started shaking, things fell off the wall. Scared the living daylights out of all us kids. Another time I was shaken out of bed during the night. I have earthquake insurance.
I also live in tornado alley. Yes, it gets very scary here at times. Not much time to prepare. I don't have a basement either. I've taken the kids and sat in the bathtub with blankets and pillows.
Every part of the country has something. Just what you get used to I guess.
CA seems to have more than its share. Wild fires, landslides, mudslides, earthquakes. FL has the hurricanes.

"CA seems to have more than its share. Wild fires, landslides, mudslides, earthquakes."

That's probably a good thing for us, in some ways. If it wasn't for that, after the way the weather always is on New Year's day for the Rose Parade, we would likely have MORE than one out of every eight Americans living here, as we already do! (Although I recently read that more people are leaving the state than moving here because of the cost of living. You forgot to mention that one... Wink)

Re: Yep!

LOL JBA, like the week or two we do without electric (no ac) in the middle of summertime. UGH!!!!!!!! I love the days and days of new coverage, the shot of the soft breeze coming off the beach and newcasters WHOA!!!!!!! this wind is really kicking up. Like find me a beach there isn't a breeze coming off the water. Then the prep time, board up, stock up on essential foods, school & work get cancelled then wait.....Then.....whew, we dodged a bullet on that one. All the preperation time, not even a breeze from it. Went up the coast. I HATE hurricane season. Did I just vent? I guess after 46 years of this, I am allowed.
