Anyone ever gotten a call from BBB

strangest thing just happened to me. I got a call from the local BBB saying that they have had inquires in to my business...I aksed if they were complaints and they said no- just inquires? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I've never had it happen to me, but they are probably trying to solicit you to join the BBB.

I haven't gotten a call from the BBB, but, I did get a call from Experian (that's who they said they were)
which made me wonder if they were a scammer. I have never gotten a call from Experian before, but
have gotten calls every year from D&B.
I wonder if other Michiganders have gotten calls too.
My gut feeling is.... "something just isn't quite right".

Thanks for the responses...I did not give

them any information. I asked what if there was a complaint about me? The person said that the BBB would try and resolve it. I said well- since you are saying that it is not a complaint- I do not want to give you any information about me. I explained the nature of my business and would not know why anyone would be making inquiries. Whatever- it was strange!!!

Re: Thanks for the responses...I did not give

When we were in the oil business, we would ever so often get calls from the BBB. Yes, they wanted us to join. The first time they called, I kind of freaked, but it was absolutely nothing. Don't give it another thought, unless of course they are calling about a complaint.

BBB phone call

Had an acquaintance who worked for the BBB...so knew this already, and it has happened to me twice, just last week! I also had gotten one right before I actually started working! Same thing! When they cold call you to introduce the BBB, they say that as a scare tactic to entice you to join. And WOW...you get a nice shiny black and gold plaque to display in your HOME office! It is silly. And since I know this guy was BSing to me, I called him on it and asked what the inquire was about...and what zip code it came from. He stumbled over his words...and stated that it was just an inquiry and he said it wasn't either negative or positive, and it would benefit me greatly to join immediately, so I could have access to and respond to these types of inquiries...I had to laugh, and told him that I will definitely call if I ever become interested in joining the BBB. Same words they used the last time they called me. Being a member of the BBB, in my opinion, may appear that you are interested in representing your business with a pro league, but have yet to see anything positive on any business's listing by the BBB. Reminds me of "he said/she said."
