California Notaries and How Much They Get Paid
I had a call to do a refinance with edocs and a large amount of documents. I asked for more than the $100 they offered and they went to $125.
I told them I've heard of notaries getting $200 and $225 for signings in California, and they told me that "California is one of the cheapest states for paying notaries."
How can this be? They seemed to have a list of the going rates for notaries.

I was a California notary for eight years. I only got $200 if I had to drive a long , long way. It is the California siging services that get the $200/225. and then they never pay you!
Speaking of, I noticed on a lot of the other boards that many other Notaries are not getting paid from CTC Notary out of Sacramento.
DO NOT TAKE WORK FROM THEM OR FROM GOLDEN BEAR NOTARIES. (Caps in,tentional)
Why, when I search CTC Notary, do the May 2008 posts not show up? I'm sure there is a very good reason for that, and I don't like it.

ouch!
normal fee is between $175.00 - $225.00 usually, sometimes lower, sometimes higher if this helps.
paying a signing agent $125.00 is not out of the question.

There are many, many, NSA's in CA working for $50 to $80! This is for an e-doc refi. ANYONE working for FASS, LFC, LandAm or ANY of the other low pay companies are accepting these fees. They say:" I get $7000.00 from FASS! They always meet my fee.....Absolute BS!!! They are $50, no nothing, cheep ass, lying, back stabbing, just out of NNA class scum. Fass pays between $300 and $500 in Georgia, MORE in WV! The ONLY WAY they can stay in business paying disgusting fees is that SOMEONE out there is taking them. Don't blame the "low ballers" blame your fellow Notary Signing Agents. I post my fees. I would take a $125 e doc refi if it was close. I do it every day here in CO. Yes, I would prefer $300.00, but it isn't happening. You must charge enough to cover your costs, and maybe make a small profit. Many NSA's are "part Time" and that's okay! Just don't pay them (work for a loss) and take PRIDE in what you do, and know what you are worth!

"How can this be?"
Supply and demand. If I say no to a lowballer they literally have 1,000+ other people on notary rotary within 20 miles of me that they can call.
But according to our good friend Joan, there still aren't enough signing agents in CA.

I'll bet Barbara H. will be glad to hear that. Her business tanked and she's homeless.

Well I'm sure once she gets the per capita figures that Joan loves to throw around she'll realize that it's all her fault because she simply didn't do enough marketing. After all, that's all it takes, there are absolutely no other factors that play into it!
