Cell Phone Calif. July 2008
We are going to have to have Bluetooth capability in July 2008 for our cell phones to be used in our cars.
I would recommend buying the earphone this month (May 2008) because come July many of these companies will probably run out of the blue tooth earphones and you will be stuck without using your cell phone.
If you don't want the ear piece than buy the one you can attach to your sun visor.

Re: Cell Phone Calif. July 2008 (and WA and OR)
Bluetooth is not required. The laws being enacted in both CA and WA (and OR, if I remember correctly) specify "hands free". Granted, Bluetooth is a hands free option with most phones today, but so is corded headsets. Many phones in use today have a corded headset option. Under the law, these are still considered to be "hands free" as are the corded/cradled car speaker/mic combinations and bluetooth speaker/mic carkits that are currently available.

Re: Cell Phone Calif. July 2008 (and WA and OR)
Here in NY we have had a much stricter "hands free" law in effect since 2001, and just going by what I see when on the road, many people ignore it. It turned out to be tougher to enforce than they thought it would be, even with the hefty fines. CA is going to fine a whopping $20 for the first offense - we start at $100 and people still do it, so how effective do you think THAT law is going to be?
Our county legislature is trying to pass a law that would ban texting or using a device like a Crackberry while driving. I can't imagine how you could do that and drive at the same time, but there are enough people who do to make it an issue. I'd like to see them add a ban on reading while driving - it's a little unnerving to glance over at the car next to you on the parkway and see the driver reading the newspaper... It's unfortunate that we need legislation when common sense should prevail.

(talented elbows?) no, silly
no, silly, talented KNEES. There was a day, long long time ago, when I could apply my eye makeup in the car on the way to work. Thanks to my talented knees, lol I would also like to mention I was very young, and to my knowledge, never caused an accident, and do not attempt that any longer. Boy, weren't the 80's something?

Re: (talented elbows?) no, silly
Well, I have been guilty of putting on false eyelashes while driving back in the 70's - but in my defense the roads were a lot less populated then. Knees, elbows, boobs, whatever would hold me on the road and keep me propelling towards my destination...but, now I've "seen the light" so.....
BTW: if you see my kids, or grandkids, This was never told, did not happen and I don't understand why you would like about me like this! LOL

I don't understand why you would talk about me like this! LOL

"Or eating a bowl of cereal (talented elbows?)"
Wouldn't bother me as much - at least they can keep their eyes on the road most of the time...
