Closing Quest

I see many of us are trying to collect from this group - they are kind enough to post their clients and the location on their web site. I suggest we email their client list that in fact they are not paying the notaries doing the work. I intend to to do just that. Anyone else interested?

I think that this is one of those instances of "Turn the other cheek".

It is one thing to contact the lender and TC involved in the work that you did, but to do a blanket , across the board announcement of this sort is 1. unprofessional 2.slimy 3. dishonet and 4. counter-productive to the entire community. I probably would have more to say about this suggested tactic if I wanted to think about it, but I don't. This is just my own opinion and knee-jerk reaction, not to be confused with someone who did not sniff a Sharpie.

I have had problems with Closing Quest in the past, so I know how it is dealing with their unprofessional practices. Fortunately, I resolved all my past due invoices with them and have vowed to never work with CQ ever again...lesson learned and moved on. As for sending notices to ALL their clients, I probably wouldn't go that far personally. I would contact the ones I did actual signings for which I haven't been paid and notify tham that they would be included in my suit against Closing Quest.

That method has worked for me in the past and hopefully, I will not need to go that route again; but if I run into problems with collections, I will work my way up the chain until I get paid.

Interestingly, I just received an email from Rikki telling me my check has been sent out! The power of NotRot never ceases to amaze me.

Re: LOL... Woohoo!

thanks Notary Rotary. Received a call from Closing Quest for a RESPA, we agreed on fee, when he mentioned I would ned to fax the entire package back. I advised would be an additional $25 he then said he would have to call to get it approved. I also advised him of their reputation in Notary Rotary and that I would need to be given the assurance that I would have my payment within 30 days. I told him I know the market is slow and that some companies are having cash flow problems. However, I advised him I do not work for free. Needless to say he never call back with an approval.

They told me up front it would be 60-90 days for payment

I don't really care when they pay, so long as they do!

I did a RESPA on 1/22/08. I finally got a check on 5/10/2008. Keep writing her emails and keep your name on her mind. But be ready for a long wait.

What I don't get

is the cash flow problem. They obviously have cash coming in. Their first priority should be to pay that notary that performed that signing. Then divvy out the rest. I guess i'm dillusional thinking there. /bonk. That would be the ideal thing. I never mind waiting the 30 days but over that, I start calling. I love the companies that pay in 5 day. Rare but there a a few that I work for. I wish I got all my closings from them.

Indeed, the power of a cohesive group of people can be awesome. However, that power needs to be used wisely. While I've kept my liability at a minimum with Closing Quest (because of the information on NotRot), I have found Rikki and the group at Closing Quest easy to work with and responsive to my needs. There are some real scuds out there who deserve collective shunning. I'm not sure Closing Quest fits that mold.
