No Payment 2 mo.s Very bad....Next signing service call i get i will take the job get the docs take them to the signing and the customers will pay me...my fee.Also if you take down the escrow co.name and ph and if they dont pay bug them they will stop using that signing company..plus charge a late fee if in paid in 30 day $10 per day late after 30 days..daclose got 300.00 for this signing i never got my 90.00 and i did all the work..180 dollars of notary work in the docs from ohio...what a rip off the signing companys are..

It would be a huge mistake...

for you to demand your fee directly from the borrowers. Your agreement for the signing is with the SS, not the borrowers, who have already paid your fee in their closing costs. It's not their fault you can't collect from the SS. Along the same lines, don't even think of holding the docs hostage, unless you want some serious legal exposure.

There are still some good SS out there; you just have to be careful who you choose to work with.

I agree with Roger, you cant demand monies from the borrower.

I have offered paypal to some signing agents, who have been burned by signing companies and are worried about working with us. No one has yet to take me up on it, (i have only offered this to those worried about working with a new ss)
The idea however to bug the escrow/title company is a good one, it will cause lots of embarrasment to the signing company I would think.

Next signing service you get a call from, check (as soon as you can get to a computer) all the notary boards for feedback on their payment record. If you see negative reviews, give them back the job.
Did you charge $90 or did they offer you $90 and you accepted? You cannot complain about what you failed to charge.

I've had success with contacting the title co's and lenders and letting them know that I was not paid by their ss. Also inform them that they would be included in my suit against the ss if I wasn't paid and had to go legal for collection. As someone else mentioned, if you haven't worked with the ss or tc before, accept the job, research them ASAP, and if they're questionable, call them back and request payment up front via paypal. If they refuse or cannot cooperate, tell them to find another notary.
