It will be the future of this business, not sure if the cost to provide the service is worth the fee services want to pay.

Now if this was a couple of years ago the volume would of made worth the cost, not enough voulme of work for the extra cost, plus you still need to print stuff so its like double work.

Populous areas--maybe; rural areas--not so much. Good luck!

Getting set up is the easy part. Many of us have laptops, can get air cards very easily. The question is, what is the pay for what is involved? There was a previous post a few weeks ago, a SS was asking the same question, they sent out emails, I asked the question as I am asking it now, what is the pay? Their answer was, " We'll pay the same as e-docs and that is ................? Still waiting for an answer.

That SS is flawed in it's thinking.....edoc signings do not require that a laptop be lugged and set up in the client's home, nor is an air card necessary (@ $60 a month to the Notary). Who wants two borrowers, sitting on each side of them, breathing down their neck to view a laptop screen? Then it has to be disassembled and lugged back to the car. Docs still have to be printed. Fax backs may be a part of the deal.

Since e-signing work is not the same, I wouldn't charge the same as an edoc signing.

Seems to me that this whole idea is flawed. 1) It requires expensive equipment which may not be utilized very often; ditto aircards. (Connecting via an enabled cell phone gives a speed like dialup---s l o w.) 2) Coverage for data transmissions is still very spotty in most of the country. 3) It is, plain & simple, a whole lot more work for the NSA. 4) And the "We need to find a stable flat surface surrounded by an area big enough for all of us to gather around this screen & get this done" scenario is not in most folks comfort zone. It sure looks pretty in a spacious office setting with one person clicking away--but that's not our reality. They are trying to sell the sizzle and forgetting about the steak--because it's tough.

This is still a gray area as to what is required. Can you be more specific so we not what we need to do to get up to speed?

E-Signings in CT

There are at least three law firms in CT that have been doing eSignings in their offices with "good results." They have set up a dedicated area of their conference room with dedicated hardware [larger monitor screen], software (i.e., minimal software [NOT Vista] to avoid conflicting with various eSigning software platforms), mice and a printer.

One attorney told me so far eSignings save him employee staff time - clerical time as CT attorneys can notarize documents. He does charge an "attorney" fee and is NOT mobile. Clients must come to his law office at a time that is mutually convenient to his schedule and theirs.

At this time, I am not doing mobile eSignings and don't want to convert my home office. 75% of the homes I go to don't have cell phone reception or spotty reception (including my own home). In the past three years, except for one travel/work-from-home executive, all of them have their computers and printers set up in their own or children's bedroom with color inkjet printers and only letter size paper.

Ask for more

I informed a title company that is using my services for e-sign that I would need to up my fee by $25 per e-signing and she agreed.
