I paid $3.89 at Von's in Goleta, CA because I purchased over $100 in groceries this week, but I can't buy groceries at this price more than once a week in order to keep putting gas in my car to get 10 cents off a gallon....It's a nice break though from paying around $3.99 or more, depending on where I am...the further north I travel, the more expensive gas is...cheaper in Oxnard/LA, heading south...in Santa Barbara they really stick it to us.

$3.69 a gallon, but we seem to be the ones that are catching up with the rest of the country. If this continues, signings will be only within a certain mile radious.

Just filled up yesterday morning for $3.97.
On my way home from a signing, it increased to $3.99. I believe this is the cheapest one in our community.

Re: Just filled up yesterday morning for $3.97.
And just think about how insensitive some title companies and signing services are to throw us the $50 signing fee. Someone must live in la la land but I think that they are spitting in our face for asking us to go that low (and sometimes lower). Gas, maintenance and licensing are eating up half our fee.
Shame on them!

$3.77 here on the eastern shore of Maryland...
I bought my Honda Accord for the good gas mileage. I paid $50 to fill up this week. My husband paid $80 to fill up his Ford F150. We are spending $1100 a month for gas in our vehicles. I have to work 2 weeks to pay for the gas in our car in a month.

Miles per dollar calculator - to help you figure your rising
costs to travel:
http://www.unfocusedbrain.com/projects/miles_per_dollar/
For example, if gas is $4, and you get 20 MPG, you drive 5 miles per dollar spent on gas. So, a 50 mile trip costs $10 for gas alone, before adding normal costs of auto ownership.

Re: Miles per dollar calculator - to help you figure your rising
The problem with this method of calculating is that this is good only for the current tank of gas as the prices are rising so rapidly right now. Also, one needs to figure replacement cost of that tank not at today's price, but at tomorrow's price, and the jury is still out on that one. We just know that it is going up, up, and more.

Ballpark is better than nothing. It still *helps* figure
your miles per dollar.
With a tiny bit of mental work, one can extrapolate.
If you don't like it, don't use it. It helps me, and perhaps it might help others get a better picture of how far a dollar will get them.
