I am never using a UPS store again

Had couple of closings late Thursday night, walked in the local UPS store they tell me to leave the package. In the past I never had issues, this week the package did not get there till this morning.

One of the loans had a large check in it and the company was wondering where it was. Called the UPS store and they said everything was picked up and told me to call UPS. Check UPS site and no sign of the package. Customer service says if its not there today they would trace it.

I could of just dropped it in a box over the weekend and got the same result. I hope no one canceled there loans. Funding was today.

Office Depot here used to take UPS. Now unless they collect the charge from you, they refuse it. (You can't fill out a lable, and say charge to resipiant so & so Title acc # 0000000 and leave it with them) I really don't much care for UPS, and will only use them if I must.

Re: I always ask for a receipt from UPS Stores,

they often tell me that the label is a receipt and I tell them no, I would like a printed receipt.
They are sometimes reluctant to do this but they do. If there is a choice between Fed EX and UPS, UPS wins all the time.

I've been trying to tell people this for years

They misplace packages at the store all the time. A friend who manages a UPS store told me flat out, the box is much more secure, much more reliable, and much easier to track if something goes awry.

I always ask for a receipt even if I have to wait.

It's a PITA but what can you do? I try to avoid them as much as possible.

Re: I always ask for a receipt even if I have to wait.

The key is to get a receipt. This way you cover yourself and the blame is squarely off your shoulders if package is delayed or worse lost: you can produce the receipt, You did your job, no questions about it. I know I always do, even if I have to wait a little bit and they never look too happy to have to take that extra step.

here the UPS stores won't generate a receipt unless money

changes hands. they say they are performing a service by taking a package that is prepaid, not a sale........

I've always gotten one..

from the UPS Store on Mooney, without money changing hands, unless I'm misunderstanding your post.

Federal Express has a box at the Post Office that is about a mile away from me. Nearby is the UPS store. I prefer the UPS store as staff has always been quick to take my packages even when helping another customer (they say "... excuse me while I take this drop..."Wink.

The FedEx Box at the post office does not have Saturday pickups and the closest FedEx store open on Saturdays is 7.5 miles away. It's about the same for the other services - so UPS is the preferred service for me.

I always prefer personal service to an unattended box. Does the UPS there have Saturday pickups? Not here in Denver. FedEx / Kinkos does 'till noon.

UPS stores are franchises

The service level at any individual store is dependent on the franchisee and his/her employees.

My business address is the local UPS store, which is less than a mile from me. I can call them and they will tell me if I have any mail to pick up and even who the mail is from. They know I'm happy when I get a check in the mail and they even called me when a late delivery came in today with a check for me from a TC.

I usually drop my packages there unless I am on the other side of town and pressed for time.
I've never had any issues with any packages shipped through this location.

The FedEx depot is also close (1.5 miles away) and is open until 7:30 weekdays and 5 PM on Saturday. The employees at FedEx call me all the time when a customer shows up and needs a notarization. Most of the time these days I can make it there in 5-10 minutes and it's easy cash.

Re: UPS stores are franchises

I don't have a problem with UPS as far as pick up and delivery. The big problem I have is the UPS franchise stores do not have a drop box. Very frequently I have a friday night closing and can't drop the docs at the UPS store. I have to drive 20 miles rt to drop the docs for them to go out on Sat. I have complained to UPS and all I am told is that its up to each franchise. From what I understand, no franchise does it so that tells me that UPS doesn't allow it.

Since I use the UPS Store as my business address

I have access to the store after hours so I can access my mail box.

If I wanted to, I could slip an envelope through the gaps in the gate that surrounds the counter and they would get it and process it in the morning when they open. Since the store is less than a mile from me, I doubt I would use this method.

The FedEx depot near me used to not check their drop box on Saturdays, so anyone who didn't make it there by 7:30 Friday night would have to return on Saturday to hand their package to a clerk at the counter if they needed delivery on Monday. They changed their policy about a year ago, so now there's no need to make a second trip if you don't make it there before they close on Friday night.

I detest UPS. I only have two customers that have me use it, all others are FedEx. There are only two UPS drop boxes close and they never have legal size envelopes and usually are out of labels. Neither have Saturday pick up. Last Saturday I had a signing that finished around 11:00 a.m. and the UPS main center was on my way home so I went there and it was closed. They had a drop box outside but had no Saturday pick up. FedEx has a store 3 blks. from my home, always has a full compliment of supplies and a 2:30 Saturday pick up. The main FedEx center has a 5:30 Saturday pick up. I went to two UPS stores not long ago to get some envelopes and labels and both gave me two each! Said they were limited on supplies and unless I wanted to send something right then, from their store, that was all they could let me have. Very frustrating!
