NNA

Anyone having problems with your orders from NNA, such as E/O insurance. Does it really take a month to receive a renewed insurance copy. I paid a month ago and still don't have it. Called today and they just released it.

I get mine from Harry here in a couple of days, shy use NNA

This site is less expensive and the service is outstanding. If you deal with the NNA you deserve what you get!

I think Notary Rotary serves as a better resource and support for notaries than the NNA.

I'm a Duh!!! I JUST renewed my E&O through Merchant's Bonding. I Googled them for their website to renew it and I kept getting re-directed to the NNA website in order to renew. I didn't WANT to get it through them, believe me. I don't know WHY I didn't think to come here!!! Has NotRot always sold the E&O insurance?? Well, I will know better for next time. At least the price is the same but I can't really wait a month to get it.

Who here thinks the NNA sucks?

I would just like to take a poll. Please reply "I do" if you think the NNA sucks. Sorry to be unprofessional, but I think my choice of words is the quickest, most accurate way to describe my feelings about the NNA. Anyone else have similar feelings?

I had a friend that bought 100K E&O today from NotRot. Took 10 minutes online, they e-mailed copy of Insurance certificate, and mailed hard copy all done within hours....How could anyone get better service than that? These guys are the BEST!!!!!

Re: I do! Ditto that Misty Yesterday I ordered

one of their new stamps and I will be getting the 100,000 E&O this weekend. Everything here is a GREAT deal especially if you are a premier member. The other company will never see another dime from me. For what? Just to say that I am a member of the NNA? NOT! Talk is cheap but for my pocket it waaaaaaaay over priced.

Re: I carry $100K because I have assets to protect

Same here, and I moved the house into a trust so it can't get sued away from me.

I have had SS requests for $100,000 E&O, but can't remember if a Title Co. ever asked for it.
Oregon has no Bonds, so I max out the E&O.

"Oregon has no Bonds, so I max out the E&O."

Even with a bond, you would be on the hook for that money - the bonding company would pay out and then come looking to you for repayment. States that require a bond do it to protect the citizens, so they can recover at least the amount of the bond. E&O protects the notary's assets.

Re: I carry $100K because I have assets to protect

I thought that the E & O that is sold here on Notary Rotary only has to do with making notary errors. Such as, I do not notarize something right- and the loan does not fund right- or down the road the county says it is done wrong- and the Lender or TC say that is cost them $50K to fix the mistake that I made- that they would put a claim on my E & O. I did not think that had anything to do with personal property????

I do know that there are differences in insurance and from what you are explaining that sounds like "General Liability" insurance?

Re: I carry $100K because...

I have the same understanding as you, except that I thought that was true of ALL Notary E&O Insurance insurance. General liability insurance is another story. We used to have some insurance experts posting here, although I don't recall having heard from either of them in a while. If they still lurk here from time to time -- or if someone else works in insurance, as well -- they could give a more definitive clarification. What I recall reading in the past is that E&O insurance specifically for loan signing activities is either non-existent or very hard or expensive to acquire.

If it cost the TC $50K to correct an error you made, they may look to you to recover that money. Your E&O insurance will cover you if it was a notary error; otherwise, you need general liability insurance.

Assuming it was a notary error: without E&O - or without sufficient E&O coverage - your personal assets may be at risk. So if you have $25K E&O and they get the judgment for $50K, the insurance would cover $25K and you'd personally be on the hook for the other $25K.

Re: I carry $100K because I have assets to protect

OK- I understand it from that angle. I mis-understood what was meant by "assets to protect". I thought that it was being explained as general liability. It seems like such a fine line....I am wondering if a lot of notaries in this business carry General Liability too or have themselves set up as a LLC?

Re: I carry $100K because I have assets to protect

If something went south badly enough on a signing to incur a lawsuit, a lawyer is going to research your assets to see if it's a waste of time or not. You can have your ASSets sued off alright, they can attach liens to almost anything to try to recover damages.

Fast E&O Insurance ...

Before my E&O insurance was up for renewal, I ordered it here. Not only was the service FRIENDLY, intelligent and excellent, he made sure my renewal started on the date my old policy expired and it ARRIVED within two days. It was a very pleasant, easy, quick experience and did not cost me anymore than where I previously order my insurance through.
