SOX

I have been reading all the messages regarding Sox. I did work for them in the past, but only 6 times in two months. I knew they had about a 30 to 45 day lag in paying thought that was ok. I have been trying to get paid for the the last 7 month. Have done the calls, the e-mails & even contacted the attorney in Chicago. I just finished a letter to the CEO, Debra Vladic and sent it to her office. I also went one step further and found her home address off of public records and sent one there also. You would think she would not be so stupid as to use her business address as the mailing address for county coorespondence. I have given her until the 30th of May to respond to my request at that time I am going to file a complaint with the FBI for internet fraud.

I have had bad luck with SOX in the past and refuse to sign for them. Also, they do use another name as well. Not sure what it is.

Sorry, but it is because of MoMos like you two that this company is still in business. I just don't get it...you read all the bad publicity yet you still accept work from them? I don't feel sorry for your situation one bit. You were warned and you choose not to listen. Go whine somewhere else.

Pat ,
I agree w/ the poster who said you probably didn't hear about their rep until too late. I was a notary for several years before I heard about this site. I don't think you're whining (most of us are in the same boat or were) - I think most of us are kindred spirits, buut some are just too high & mighty to admit it!!! Good luck!

This is how these rip offs stay in business, honest people like you take their work hoping they won't get taken advantage of.If you had checked this company out, you would read countless stories of them cheating people right and left.
They've called me several times to close and I've turned them down every time because of their lousy reputation, and I've told them why. Use the search feature here and check everyone out before you work for free.

I dont understand people like you what makes you think you are any different than the other 100 people who complain about not getting paid. SOX should be out of buisness by now and the only reason they're not is because of people like you ''I knew they had about a 30 to 45 day lag in paying thought that was ok" what board were you reading. Their reputation is for NOT PAYING!!! I'm sure they had your name posted on the bulliten board'' Call Pat she'll do the siging she'll do anything'' it's bad enough to do 1 signing for them but how in the world did you take a chance and do 6 thats just bad buisness. I have been reading the boards for years and everyone of them state in no uncertain terms STAY AWAY FROM SOX. I hope ypur successfull in your collection efforts but if your not consider this a lesson you had to learn the hard way

You know as a new notary you don't always know were to look for assistance or even that there are companies out there that work the way Sox's does. Since I had only been working with 2 very reputable companies who always paid quickly I did not know better. I have learned. Maybe if more of us would file internet fraud complaints with the government we might get them shut down. Bye the way lindethten_PA I have learned my lesson they still call me, and I tell them no way.

Re: SOX pat

PAT, I am sure you did work for them prior to knowing the bad info found on this and other sites. Its ALWAYS a shame to see anyone get ripped off.
I am sorry

I have joined many places where people can post about bad companies to work for. I read about SOX. Because I was a newbie and still am (no work yet), they called me. They asked me to do a signing for them. They told me they would pay me $150.00 to do my first signing with them. I was so excited about my first signing. They then sent me paperwork with SOX written in some of the paperwork. I then called them and asked what's up with the no pays. They said it had to be a different company. They also said they have a good reputation and they pay on time. I then thought, well maybe, but I am not going to take a chance. I told them, no, I was sorry but I could not do a non-paying job. Especially one that says they pay well. I just don't want to be burdened with the hopes of money coming in, and not being able to pay my bills because of them. They then told me they have many jobs for me to do, and all I had to do was this one, if I want them to call me again. Well, I did not do it. AND I still have NO EXPERIENCE in Loan Signings. So, if anyone in Southern California can take me on a signing, PLEASE let me know. I just want to see how it is done, and I want to make sure I don't screw up. I was laid off of my job last year from the school district, and my unemployment has run out. So, I have very little cash. If you can help me I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Filing a complaint with the FBI may give you a warm, fuzzy feeling, but it probably won't get you paid. The FBI needs to build a case before they do anything, and the odd complaint about a couple of hundred dollars is not going to move them. One person here claimed that it worked for her, but on further explanation it turned out she just assumed that because she got paid a couple of days after filing a complaint, the FBI was responsible for the getting her paid (right - so if I burp today and there's an earthquake in California tomorrow, did my burp cause the earthquake? According to her logic, yes...).

I did a couple of signings for SOX when I was new and stupid, and managed to get paid by following their instructions and making a general nuisance of myself. They will NOT respond to phone calls or emails - only faxes. I think somewhere in past messages I described the method I used; send me a PM if you're interested, no guarantees but it might work for you.

Your other options are to file a complaint with the BBB (their rating is so low now that I'm not sure they even care any more), or, since you're in the same state, sue them in Small Claims Court. Whatever option you choose, good luck - you've learned a painful and expensive lesson...
