When I submit a notary packet that contains a list of fees, I cross out the fee, put in my required amount & initial the change. In the beginning, I saw it the way you do, until someone gave me the same advice.

I wanted to reply to the other post on them and got onto other things.
As for the fee, I received $150 for e-docs from them a few weeks ago - appointment was well within my coverage area so there was no 'travel'.
Anyway, instructions from title company said "No felt tip pens". I did not use a felt tip pen (nor have I ever). I use 'liquid gel ink'. I use the same pen (have one in blue and one in black) for EVERY closing I do. Have used the same pens for years since I 'discovered' them. The title company called me VERY upset that I used a 'felt tip pen'. I told her I didn't. She kept insisting I did. We're sort of at an impasse because she said/I said. Apparently, what she really meant was 'use ball point pen'. Well duh, then say so. Anyway, they then call Statewide and without even speaking to me Statewide stuck up for me and said they were certain I didn't violate a direct instruction such as that. She called me and I told her what happened. As far as I know, the loan has gone through because I haven't heard back.
So, Statewide is a decent company in that they stick up for you when necessary. I thought about mailing one of my pens to the title company but ... they cost too much !!!
