Stupid, Stupid, Stupid

This TEA thing (prior posts) is the BIGGEST RIPOFF the NNA has ever come up with. Let's see; a notary public is charged with properly identifying a signer; is an officer of the State; is entrusted with certain powers (depending upon your state); as a SA handles sensitive documents containing a person's complete financial history and social security number; etc.

So the NNA decides to make itself MORE money by INSULTING the entire profession of Notary Public by claiming that they are not trustworthy!!! It is the NNA that is not trustworthy.

Any FOOL that signs up for this garbage deserves to be locked up in a nut house.

Well...don't consider myself stupid, nor do I consider myself a FOOL....so I do take exception to your phrasing...

That being said, since I was already a member and had everything in place I DID sign up and tested for two companies who'd gotten on board for this with the NNA (supposedly) - keep in mind I'm out-of-pocket nothing at this point so no harm, no foul....and there's no way to know what's required with this new "venture" unless someone checks it out - so I did...and a 5th-grader could do it...IMO

Despite their pronouncement that they'd have a flood of assignments beginning in mid-end April, I've not heard one word and have not received one assignment so far. My BGC expires (by their standards) in October and I WILL NOT be having it done again - it was clean two years ago and I've been a good girl - no need. So, I can only assume that I'll not be eligible for any assignments once October comes.

This, really, is not much different than the company who pushed their signings for automobile purchases - they hawked this great new income-producing area of work and built a database of people willing to PAY for their training - then no one heard anything again - although recently I read someone did their first one and it was simple. The only difference here is the one pushing the TEA is the NNA and that simple fact taints it in many minds.

My personal feeling and opinion is you're right - a notary could handle this process without the NNA (or any other SS for that matter) getting in the middle - unfortunately the NNA did - and unless I hear differently, they've got a lock on it - anyone requiring this service forthose companies who have enlisted the NNA for it must go through the NNA to initiate the verification process. That's not to say someone can't call a notary independently and ask to have the form notarized - not sure how that would be handled if the applicant bypasses the NNA on their own - the agents in the database sign an online agreement not to market this service independent of the NNA. Do I disagree with this? Absolutely.

I'll pass on the nuthouse, thanks.

Your response has set me in gales of laughter...I don't know though if it is because I left the top off a Sharpie, under my nose, and that chemical smell has now affected my brain! What a hoot Linda!

After Mother's Day, I might welcome the nut house!

Couldn't agree more! It's time the NNA got real. They are insulting the intelligence of this board's membership, and those poor unsuspecting souls out there who know nothing about what notary's do in the first place...I imagine attendance in New Orleans in June is paltry...just another platform for catching more fish in their nets. Now that the DOJ/FBI background check is required of every new and renewing notary in CA, plus a passport photo, who the heck needs to spend any money with the NNA for their BGC...good money after bad!

As I said in a previous thread that I did apply, because I still have time left on my NNA membership. They called me yesterday and stated I needed their BGC. I told them I am checked by Ca state and I am renewing my commission now and would be BGC by the state and the FBI, plus I was checked last year by A-check America and they state that that is not good enough and not acceptable by them. ......
