Where Can I Get UPS Legal Size Envelopes???
Although, I ship docs at the UPS store frequently, they won't give me even one legal size envelope to return docs. They say, I'm not a customer, because I'm using someone else's account number and they are not ringing up any money on their register.
I tried another UPS store, and they say they don't carry legal size UPS envelopes, because they have no place to store them. They said they don't cost them anything, but they won't order them. They told me to fold up my documents and squeeze them into a regular size envelope. Of course, I won't do that.
When I asked UPS (the 800 number) about it, they said to go to the drop offs to get envelopes. I tried going to the drop offs, and none have legal size envelopes in them.
Has anyone else had this problem?

My UPS store doesn't give me a hard time about it
I usually go to The Mailbox Store to drop packages and I get all the supplies I need there - do you have one of those near you? How about a Goin' Postal? They have supplies, too.
Also, the Office Max near me carries the supplies too - you might try them. Just a thought.

You can get a UPS account and they will ship all supplies to your door. You have to give the a credit card number though.

We had the same problem as well. Funny thing is, even though we may not be a "paying customer," we are shipping back docs that a "paying customer" has paid for. We did contact the 800 ups # and they did send us a bunch in the mail. And they said we didn't need to have an account either.

That franchisee is not a very good business person
The clerks at my local UPS store tell me that their store gets a small fee ($0.50-$1.00) for every pre-paid package they accept.
They always offer a receipt too.

I only had a problem getting a receipt once
The clerk told me my receipt is my tracking number...wouldn't issue a receipt - personally I don't think he knew how to generate one!!

Re: That franchisee is not a very good business person
I thought they must get some small payment for handling a prepaid envelope.
I agree with you. There are two UPS stores I've used, and both owners are not good business people.
I always ask for a receipt for self-protection. You can't be too careful in this business.
Thanks, Teresa.

Very bad business practice for the store!
There is one local store that I use exclusively for all shipping, whether pre-paid or something I'm shipping myself. They have legal UPS and FedEx envelopes in stock (for me and others) and are happy to give me a receipt. Consequently, I refer _everyone_ to them! Unfortunately, the place has recently changed hands and I don't know how the new owners are going to be....
There is a shipping-and-packing store in Mystic, CT that has never been cooperative. I avoid Mystic Mailbox & Parcel Center and strongly suggest that tourists do likewise.

Open an account and
they will ship them right to your door for free. Use a Credit Card to open account and NEVER, EVER NOT ONCE either order or use labels you've printed. ALWAYS pick up shipping labels at drop boxes and never, ever put your name on them. Ditto Fed Ex.

Re: Open an account and
I have had that same problem with the UPS store I use. I usually get the pre printed label when the TC emails me the docs I have had the TC or SS I get most of my work from call UPS and get the supplies sent to me directly they have had no problem with this since it is cheaper for them when you use the envelopes instead of the plastic paks found in the drop boxes.

My best source
is the box in front of a local title company. That baby is a well stocked site!

Re: Open an account and
I do as Lee. I have both UPS and FedEx accounts (free). It is hard to find UPS legal, but they will deliver them to your door. I often use lables I've printed, but only for my stuff, not to ship docs back to Title. That should be their expense,

I get mine from the UPS store, as the owner frowns at my request, all the while handing them over. LOL

Call the Title Company...
This is probably cheating, but using UPS here is a major pain in the pituity... so much so that I've been known to call the TC when the SS has told me to return docs UPS and just non-chalantly ask for a FedEx number. Usually they don't even ask for a name or a borrower ... routine... "Oh, our number is 1234567"
If you catch it before hand you can just ask nice and they'll usually provide FedEx.
On one occasion I forgot it was UPS and would have to drive through traffic to drop at their facility... and ... ah hell, I just FedEx'd it on my own dime. Took all the profit out of the job but saved my day.
Not every UPS store is run by jackasses, but it's pretty common.

UPS is a real pain. I will not use them unless forced to. They need to get their act together.
