Working for Nations Direct

To anyone working for Nations Direct. Just so you know this SS is almost as bad as the deadbeats out there. To be a good SS one must have good notaries, to get good notaries one must be able to pay them, and make a little to pay their overhead. We’ve heard little from Andy, or Tony lately, (good ones) and, I fear they may go away. Some friends of mine just lost 100 signings a week (estimated) to Nations Direct. They are charging Title $125. My friends can’t do a signing for that and pay their notaries/ scheduler’s/overhead etc. so they said no. Nations Direct on their web site state: “we pay Notaries $40, Attorneys $90” I don’t know anyone that will work for that, but SOMEONE is, and they are a disgrace to this business. JMO

I've worked for Nations Direct & they have always met my fee, which is not even close to what you list. They also pay promptly, which is nice too!

Perhaps in “Attorney States” they pay lawyers more? And that was not "what you list" it was a direct quote from their web site. Thank you for supporting them. I guess we need more lawyers in this business.

Why do people have to get so abrasive on this site?

I only told you my experience w/them. Sorry they don't pay notaries more but if they are willing to meet my fee, why shouldn't I take it, esp. when I can count on being paid & being paid in a timley fashion? To suggest that I am wrong for doing so is insane. I am NOT undercutting your business, as I am not a notary in your state taking below average wages. It is them that you should take issue with NOT me.

Re: Why do people have to get so abrasive on this site?

I do not think my reply was abrasive, did you? Business is business. If you as an attorney in an ‘attorney state’ can get the fees you need to stay in business, more power to you! I am envious of your bar association (s). Something I REALLY wish we (lesser) notaries should try and organize, and emulate. And… my original post was really directed to notary signers working in non-attorney states. I apologize if I did not make that clear. Please counselor, don’t lose any sleep over what some Colorado clod kicker thinks.

I guess on their part, it can't hurt to try to only pay $60.00. It's up to US not to take it is all. I work for one company and they have always met my fee. They say $50 and $25 for e-docs. I said I have always been paid $xxx.xx. She said i'll note your account and don't count on getting any more calls from us. I said no problem. Check your data base. I have never done a signing, especially a RM for $75.00. I see on the HUD what the SS get's paid. I am targeting the TC's directly now. Not much happening but I can still try.

Re: Working for Nations Direct / CAVEAT

Caveat: Please be advised that my post about Nations Direct was not directed at Attorneys in MA, DE, WV, SC, GA, etc. If you are getting $350 to $500 per signing you are doing your part. Thank you!

My favorite Nations Direct tale is the time they called on Saturday for a signing that night. They offered their standard $40 fee. I managed, with effort, to squeeze another $10 out of them. Docs were at the borrowers', so I couldn't look them over. Too bad. The bo's had all sorts of questions, some of which I could answer; some which required a call to their l.o. Two-and-a-quarter hours later we were done. Did I mention the fact that there were 18 --count 'em-- acknowledgements? At the fee rate my state sets, that would be $90 in notarized signatures alone! Such is not atypical of Nations Direct. Needless to say I never took another closing from them again. That was about two years ago. Nice to hear they haven't changed.

I have never worked for NationsDirect. They have a low-ball reputation. Too bad some notaries are willing to take signings for that.
