$50 edoc fee
Sue from PA post she gets them all the time, I use to do large volume business many TC's and in the last 3 years "Never" could get a $50 fee and keep the large volume from that client.
I charge $25 for edocs for the last 3 years and think that is a fair price for a set of docs. Hey companies want to pay 9-12 dollars for edocs and that is unreal too.
For people still left in the game, don't price yourself out just to many notaries around to pick up the slack. Now I'm not saying work for 50 bucks or less, just know what you can get and maintain the client for future work.

that she's sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring because she's priced herself out of business?

Re: so are you saying that Sue is not telling the truth, or
Not saying she does not charge 50 for edocs, saying not many companies will call you again unless they are desperate at that price.
Maybe she has the notary market in her area? I know only 2-3 people left in my area that do this full time anymore.
Not sure what her business is like, I know how to keep mine running. 14 closed so far this month 4 on the books for tomorrow, 3 the next day and 2 day bank audit early next week.

Exactly. AND, you don't see me posting as you do that I don't have any work (need a smiley here) although my work load, as everyone's, has dramatically decreased. I've completed 23 so far in May and have 9 more scheduled. I've got 9 closings scheduled so far this week and I've gotten the $50 for 7 of them - 2 others I only received $25 - one is a large vendor management company that gives me volume and won't budge - the other is a smallish title company that lowered their fees about a year ago in an attempt not to go under - and I went lower with them.
I've said it repeatedly - there are still PLENTY of companies willing to pay and pay well for a closer they can depend on. Finding and retaining those companies is a fulltime job itself.

Alice, I think you may have misunderstood Sue's message. Sue was saying the $50 and $25 were the e-doc fees she received on those jobs, not the entire fee for each job. I mis-read it myself the first time, too.

I do get calls asking me to accept a $45 edoc fee and I thought this was the case. I am sorry I misunderstood. Sorry Sue, carry on. ( :0)))).

**Finding and retaining those companies is a fulltime job itself.**
Ain't it the truth. I picked up a new TC about two months ago and they have steadily sent me work since. Not only do I stay in touch with the EO, but now I am working closely with the TCs Marketing Rep. and her clients, the LOS. I offer my time to the Marketing Rep. by way of making sales calls with her so her clients both new and potential can actually meet the person that will be closing their loans. On top of that, I am in constant communication with the LOs and the LOs tell the Rep. that they love the fact that I communicate with them.
Just today, the Rep. said her goal was to keep me busy so I wouldn't have to find a part time job...God I love this gal!

I get $25 for edocs. I pretty much think this is standard. I know of no one getting $50 (except Sue, more power to her) (I know Sylvia asks $35, but don’t know how many $35 e-docs she get a month) It would be interesting to hear from all those out there getting $50 plus. I know gas is $4 plus, and all costs are up, but getting more money when most are offering less is like getting blood out of a rock.

I get $50 all day long, no questions asked from the majority of my TC clients. A few TCs I work for will now only go $25, but only the ones that I have worked with for many years and are trying to stay in business. The very few SSs that I continue to work with will only pay $25. I will not work for SS that considers $100 for an edoc closing a fair fee. I give those deals to the hobbyists.
Why should I let an organization I don't believe in, don't support and really detest set MY standard fees? Many of the TCs I deal with don't even know who the friggin XYZ is.

Ain't it the truth! Never get asked for the XYZ BGC either. What a joke they are. Now they want to promote TEA? I'll have mine on ice with sugar, please.

Thanks for the info. I guess location and the amount of local business in important in pricing. I (try) and get $100 (signing) plus $25 for edocs on a standard refi. At that price I still lose several a week. Three years ago I charged $150, for the same thing, and was twice as busy. I think most of us are lucky to get 3 or 4 assignments a week, when some like Sue get that many a day, and she charges top dollar! Maybe she should write a "how to" book and sell it to us less skilled.
BTW I think that the NNA has hurt this business more than all other outside considerations, including the recent sub-prime melt down, and current credit crunch.

NNA and Sub Prime Melt Down= Perfect Storm
NNA floods the market, Sub Prime Killed it. NNA needs to make up income TEA. Even when everything was great I could care less about the NNA.
I was so busy it started to hurt my business, only so many times you could say you were booked and they call back. Hurts even now, seems when one company calls they all call for closing that day. (had to turn down 2 for Wednesday because I'm booked up for the times they wanted.
People with the NNA will take almost anything at any price and think WOW...

Here we go again with NNA bashing! I joined the NNA on my own, no one forced me to do it..I do get a lot of info from them! I alos get a lot of great information from Not Rot and I have done my research and homework too.. I do not take anything at any price and think WOW!
I have learned to set my fees according to standards set on Not Rot..I admire people that give good advise and ideas on this site..The negative naysayers should stay away, or keep quiet!

Well Claudine I'm glad you're NNA Super Notary
We all have opinions and if you can't see that the NNA flooded the market that is ok. If not for other Notary Sites you would be working for 50 bucks a closing now.
I guess if NNA made me one of the best Notaries around I would praise them too..NOT

Get a good network of closers together and help each other. You would be amazed at what it does for your business. I can't endorse it enough.

New Jersey has a network -6-10 folks in it if that
It looked like it was dead and they are working on getting it back up again. Problem is alot of there rates are much lower then mine.
65-75 per closing.. No way..

Professional Network benefits
We should not fail to mention that another benefit is that our Florida Network affliates with several other state networks, with terms, conditions and requirements similar to ours. When one network learns of a company needing help in another state, we refer directly to that network. It is a win-win!

3 years ago I charged $150-$200 and was also twice as busy - literally doing 20 -30 orders a week. Several times a week I'd receive $200+ - no distance or anything particular other than calls coming in at 9:00 to close the same night and I'd charge for that if they weren't a regular client.
Selling a book would never help most in this business - work hard and work smart - and live in an area that has people !!

Re: $50 edoc fee - Les
"I know Sylvia asks $35"
That is what the title companies pay me for the printing of the docs, and that is the printing fee I pay to my signing agents (no signing company should make money on the printing fee). As most of the signings through the title companies I work with are overnight docs, the printing fee doesn't come up often.

Re: $50 edoc fee - Les
Bless you Sylvia! I did not mean to imply that you asked $35, and kept a portion of it. I also know that if a company can't meet your fees you tell them to contact the notary direct. I was commenting on people asking $50 for a 'print fee'. I think that $50 is great; I just don't think many get it. I long for the days of overnight! No late docs, no revised HUD, no frantic last minute calls, no rescheduling with the borrower (that always blames you). Those were the days.
