4 closings this month
A couple of NJ notaries said they had a good October and I am glad for them, but WOW this month is so bad, past history this was one of my best months and with Turkey day so late this year I don't see the day before being a killer day (always the best day of business for the last couple of years)
Glad all the lenders got the goverment money so they can buy banks instead of lending moneu.

you don't do this fulltime. you're not available when clients call. when you're not available, you're no longer first call. You have a small child. You have a new job. You took vacation. Granted, taking care of a child and collecting a steady pay check should be your first priorities but you can't expect to retain your clients when they can't count on you.

Sure wish we could keep personal attacks out of the forum.

Personal attack??? What are you talking about?
Sue stated a fact. Anyone who has spent time on this forum knows that Mike has had to make some changes to the way he runs his business. Sue was simply pointing out that the changes he has made are more than likely the cause of his slow down and I agree with her. I don’t think Mike will take Sue’s posts to be more than what it was. Mike ‘gets’ it here obviously you don’t.

If "Mike" gets it, why point it out to others? No I don't get it - Mike's business is his, not this board.

Sandra, lighten up and enjoy the water cooler that is NR.
>>>If "Mike" gets it, why point it out to others?<<<
I posted it in hopes that after being a member of this board for as long as you have been you just might 'get it'. I guess I was wrong.
>>>Mike's business is his, not this board. <<<
Well, not necessarily. Mike is a great NSA, husband, father and all around good guy, as far as I can tell. How do I know this? I know this because we have both been posting on this forum for years and Mike has shared certain aspects of his family life and business life with the members on this board. We ARE privy to some of his business decisions and that was what Sue's post was about. I also know that Sue/PA is one of the most established, informative and give-it-to-you-straight NSAs out there. Sue was not being harsh at all, as is noted in Mike's response to you.
Sandra, take a chill pill and enjoy this forum for what it is. Maybe, for you, it's just a place to get information on SSs, but to others it is a place to share with friends and associates, a place to rant, to rave and a place to congratulate and console, among other things. Don't just assume people are attaching others just because you see it that way.

Sue is just pointing out facts no attack
What she said is true of my past post. I knew things would drop off going part time now just never thought it would be this bad with my large client list. About half of that list has either closed there doors or have become late payers. I do still have a core group that still gives me business and pays within 30days so the work I do get payment will come quick.
My priorities are to have steady cash flow in the house and 1.3 million people this year lost there job.

Mike, I've only had 4 as well and this is my full time gig. I do waitress on weekends, but this is full time for me. It's very bad this month. I had a good October.

Re: 1 this month.
I have only had one this month. Although I had 1 request for a 75.00 edoc which I refused. And I have had 2 requests for 46.00, however, I can't get this company to reply to my questions regarding this fee. They keep sending me emails of whether to accept or decline. I haven't even answered. The last one was 45 miles one way and the fee stated 46.00. 2 of my former regular companies have lowered their fees to some ridiculous amount and don't call me anymore. I still can't beleive anyone accepts these fees. I am in denial...

I can understand that you had to go from full time to part time. For many notaries there isn't enough work to bring in what they need. Many have left the profession altogether to take other jobs. Nov. started off a lot slower the first two weeks. A couple of my regular TC have kept me afloat. It is picking up, with several calls already for next week. Last year I was completely slammed from Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Year's. Things are tough for a lot of people, and I'm guessing there will still be a lot of refi business (for anyone who is funding the loans, that is). Keep the faith.

Strangely enough, in this part of the St Louis metro area, I've been getting 3-5 calls per week. Today alone I had two calls and was fortunate enough to be able to schedule both. It looks like it might be picking up, but I've also been told that it's hard to find a notary that's available in my home county. We'll see...

let's see if I can figure this out this time.....
I have noticed also that the number of notaries has decreased, not that is any great numbers of people calling though...very slow here, but even tho I am working parttime now I find it great to have a job.

According to a woman who works at US Bank in a St Louis location, she advises that it's a good thing to be in a sparsely notary populated area - according to what she's been seeing, since the banks are now lowering their interest rates, biz should be picking up - especially in the counties where I serve. Not gonna stop doing other work that brings in some income, but I'd sure like to see the SA biz pick up again. Maybe then, I can go to FL to visit family and friends!

Re: 2 closings this month
Both were a no sign and I only get my print and trip fee. Thank god I have my part-time job and my foreclosure inspections.
