4th notary for the job

The $75 jobs come back to roost. I had quoted the company(10/31) my standard price which they had to get approval on and they proceeded to hire someone else. 11/02 Borrower called 1st notary who had forgotten, she asked if he had a printer so she could print the docs. His printer put out about 1 page per minute so that option was out. She went to Office Depot and printed, took them to the job and the docs were cut off. He said she laid the docs down on the table and told them to sign. There was a non-borrower spouse involved which she did not get right. The Dot did have her name printed in but the TIL and other spousal docs did not. The instructions were clear about docs for the NB spouse if not printed on docs. A check was to go back with the pac. Clearly a redo, but the next two notaries (11/3) did not show(12:00 noon) at all after committing to the closing. Borrower was not a happy camper. I closed at 3pm. It is true that you get what you pay for sometimes.

you pay for what you get, indeed! You have to feel sorry for the Borrowers who have to put up with this kind of incompetence and they are paying for this!

I'm getting those too. When will the companies figure out it's best to hire the NSA's who know what they are doing at a $XXX. instead of the notaries who are taking the low ball $XX fees?

Gee, I just hate to hear that story. The idiots that are out there calling themselves NSA's hurt the rest of us who are knowledgable & competent. Remember, many companies have the experience of this sort of thing being the "norm" in the industry. Price is important, but the quality of the job done shouldn't really be "you get what you pay for". What am embarrassment for our profession.

Well, I'm no spring chicken (I am 68) but I am, have always been, and will continue to be a professional. I would think that maybe if you think about what you said about "old" people, maybe they really need the work - no matter what they are accepting for pay - they just might need the funds to pay for medicine, mortgage, lights, phone, grandkids, etc. Don't knock "old" people working.

Lol I'm no spring chicken either Monica and I have to work. I do not accept low-ball fees. My opinion only. No one can afford to work for low-ball companies, young or old. Our cost of doing business is not getting any cheapier. Just like any other business we are all facing very hard times.

I really wish people would realize that people on SS are not getting enough money to keep a bird alive, especially in the year 2008. There are no pay raises or cost of living raises on SS, It's truely the grace of God that we are in good health and can work as notaries. If young people resent us "old people" working they need to bear in mind "You'll be joining us" so don't be insulting. "Yesterday I couldn't spell it. Today I are one."

Have a great week Smile

What the heck does age have to do with it???

"Bancserv hires old people i'am talking 70 to 80 years old to do cheap notary work"

This is without a doubt the dumbest statement I've ever seen here - and you've had some stiff competition for that honor.

It's hard to believe that someone could be that much of a moron, but life is full of surprises..

I completely agree with this. Ignorance has nothing to do with age, obviously.

God Bless Bancserv! for keeping everyone working, no matter what age they are! As long as they are competent and reliable, who cares about age?

old people no problem but what i wanted to say is they can take and do 50.00 full signing and don't mind it because they have free time and don't need to make a lot of money. but a lot of signing companies will find a person the will do the work dirt cheap and they make all the money thats all.

>>> ... what i wanted to say is they can take and do 50.00 full signing and don't mind it because they have free time and don't need to make a lot of money. <<<

Well, you managed to come up with another misinformed statement. You don't seem to understand that "old" people need to make money just like the "young" people do. It's just that their spending habits are different.

I submit that most of the "cheap" signing agents are NOT older folks, but younger agents not knowing better or simply looking for 'pin' money. (If you don't know what 'pin' money is, ask your mother.)

Re: Just keeping digging a deeper hole

Hey Jack, did you ever hear of opening you mouth and sticking your foot in? Just how misinformed can anyone be? The problems we are having as signing agents in this business stem from anyone, young or old, taking on all these $40 and $50 jobs. I don't think an awful lot of us admit to taking them, but when they call and we keep turning them down, the job gets done anyway. Someone out there takes the job. What the heck does free time or being young or old have to do with it?

Hate to say it, but the problems we're having in this business go way beyond that one issue. If it were only that, we wouldn't be seeing so many former clients dropping like flies. It doesn't help any, but I certainly don't think we can hang all our challenges on that one issue.

You're right about 'finding someone who will work cheap'. That someone can be any age, so get off the age-discrimination kick.

OLD PEOPLE

I AM GOING TO BE 71 THIS YEAR. I have been doing signing for about six years. You ever try to live on social security?? AND the Bush years have ruined my stock investment. So much for saving for your retirement.
If I couldn't do this work, I would have to live with my children or find some other work.
SO MUCH FOR CONDEMING OLD PEOPLE.

BY THE WAY I DON'T FEEL OLD!!

Hey, Whippersnapper!

******Bancserv hires old people i'am talking 70 to 80 years old to do cheap notary work***

Jack: I have a doctoral level professional degree, have practiced law, covered presidents, astronauts and world-renown activists as a journalist, run organizations and businesses, and taught at two universities. And even though I'm almost 72, I still know whether to zip my pants up or down when I pee.

Wanna compare the size of my fees with the size of your fees?
