Collection matter
I sent a collection notice for a signing several months ago and this was the e-mail response I received:
"Hi Virginia, Not sure what happened here... Looks like the closing dropped off my payment schedule ... I will get the check out today... Sorry for the inconvenience. Lori"
Does anyone know what being "dropped off my payment schedule" means - especially if you read between the lines?

If this is who I think it is, sad to say but there is trouble brewing. Her reason/excuse to me was a client filed bankruptcy. She told another notary that someone in the family passed away and they were behind. Now telling you this. That said, she did send my check the day she said. She also paid the other notary I know within a day or two of when she said. All in all, it doesn't appear to be good. I've 'known' her for a long, long time and I'd say she is decent and trying her best but I'm guessing, like so many others in this business, hard times have hit her.

If the same company, last time I spoke to her (couple weeks ago) she said things have been tough, but should be back on track soon. But as Sue said, she is decent but one has to wonder how long she can survive the hard times.

Well, with my 9-5 job, if something "dropped off" a payment schedule it would mean:
a) I neglected to enter invoice. b) I entered the invoice but did not have the funds to pay it, so I pushed it back a week. c) I continued to push the payment back due to lack of funds that I eventually just ignored it outright. d) I never actually received the invoice, but I might have and just have no idea because I wasn't tracking the job properly so I can't really say if I didn't get it or if I got it and just didn't enter it (see a).
Take your pick --- none of them very good, and none of them your fault to be sure. Sounds to me like they have a poorly organized system.

There seems to be a lot of these situations occurring regularly. I wonder what telling Visa you 'dropped them from your payment schedule would do.'

I already know the answer. I was two days late. Raised my interest rate from 8.7% to 24.99%. Too bad we can't do that to our non-paying companies!
