HARRY, why is it that
companies that are "out of business", still listed in Signing Central?

I think they should stay in there, but as "Out of Business". It seems that some of these companies ressurrect themselves.

I agree with you Lisa,I would rather have them on the list with the tag of "OUT OF BUSINESS" ,I have read in the past some so called out of business still call.

I wouldn't be surprised if Harry needed to hire a full time person to keep track of those companies that are out of business. Perhaps there could be something set up for us to tag a company as out of business, as we learn of it. Unfortunately, I can imagine all kinds of potential problems with that.

there are so many companies with similiar sounding names people would mess it up.
Not too long ago someone posted about a ABC Company in Anytown, USA. Someone else jumped in and decided that XYZ Company in Anytown, USA, was the same company. These two companies had in common being n the same town, nothing else.
Someone else posted quite an extensive listing a few months ago of companies that had gone out of business. Two of those companies are clients of mine that I continue to work for, with ZERO problems - I have no idea where the guy got the info for his list.

Leave the OOBs on the list, imho. The info in Signing Central isn't a guarantee... it's just a kind of 'preponderance of evidence' type of thing. If I'm called by ABC & don't know anything about them, I'd sure like to know that somebody thought they went oob. Means further due diligence is needed. If they aren't showing at all... well, they could be one of those co's that now you see them; now you don't; now they're back. A lot of notaries could take the 'lack of info' as a good sign, but it's definitely not in these cases.

So true, and a very good point! Thanks.
