HP 1320 paper feed problem
I am having a paper feed problem with my HP 1320. The first page curls up and jams. I talked to an HP technical support person and he told me to change to an HP cartridge and clean the roller. I haven't used an HP cartridge since the original one that came with the printer, so I don't think that is the problem and I cleaned the roller. The paper still jams and I am looking for suggestions.

Try flipping the paper over. Seriously.
Most paper has a "print first" side which usually is the side facing the paper overwrap seam.

Backing up what Dave said - seriously, flip the paper over, and don't ask why it helps - no clue. I have this problem sometimes when the humidity is up.

It kept happening to me today
Turned out a paperclip got dropped into my printer tray and rolled underneath where the paper feeds through. It kept causing the paper to bunch up on one side and jam.

HP won't help with non-HP components
Even though using non-HP cartridges, it is always best to have a real HP cartridge handy in case there is any problem. Then HP technical services can and most often will, assist in the problem resolution. HP clearly states that using a compatible cartridge will not void the warranty, however, the printer using a non-HP cartridge will not be supported.
So, my suggestion is to replace the cartridge with a true HP cartridge. If the problem continues, then you know it's not the cartridge and HP should assist.

I have an HP 1320 TN and have had problems with the letter size paper not picking up. I did have the roller replaced about a year ago by a local company but the printer still does the same thing. It could be the lack of humidity in Colorado that causes this. I've learned I can take one of those wipes for computer screens and wipe the roller and that seems to help the first sheet of paper to be picked up. Once the first sheet goes through then the printer works fine. Have you tried cleaning the rollers? I'm not sure the type of cartridge you're using will have any affect on the paper curling up, unless it's because of residue buildup on the rollers.

Thanks for your replies to my post. I keep my paper with the print on the end right side up, then I tear the end off to pull the paper out. I only refill my tone cartridge three times. I finally got paper to go through, but, it struggles to feed and the left side of the pages are ragged.
