Has it come down to this?
See this Craigslist ad I found today.

Guess some folks will do anything and everything to make a living. (and I am NOT putting this person down, I'm impressed with all they will do)

lol...doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. At least it's an honest way to make money to pay the bills. WIth AB being bought out by InBev (people are losing their job), Chrysler plant laying people off and a lot more companies that are shuttering their doors - the St Louis job market isn't looking to healthy, unless a person is able and willing to think outside the norm to make an honest day's wage.

>>> WIth AB being bought out by InBev (people are losing their job) <<<
Are you sure about people being laid off? According to August Busch IV, the merger with InBev will expand the Anheuser-Busch market. And the Boston Herald said:
"In the first union contract signed since the company was sold to a Belgian brewer, Inbev, Anheuser-Busch agreed to keep all 12 U.S. breweries open until 2014. The contract includes wage increases for most of the 500 workers at the Merrimack [NH] plant.
The agreement comes after speculation that the new owners, known for cost-cutting measures, would close the plant."
This sure sounds like the beer will continue to flow and the workers will still be working. (At least for the next 5 years.)

PAW. Pretty sure I heard AB/Inbev is laying off in St. Loui
45 attorneys and numerous other positions. They have offered a buyout to many.

Word on the streets in St Louis confirm that some AB employees will be laid off. It may be a rumour, but who knows for sure?

What do you mean "down to this"? This is the "work" that women do every day--they're doing it to get paid. This is how many women got into the "housecleaning" business & have really cleaned up (sorry about the pun). I need their services--never enough time for everything. They don't have "laundry" on their list--darn!

I was thinking the other day of just this type of post - I'll be your substitute wife, girlfriend, etc (w/o the other amenities) and keep you organized and on track, doing errands you don't have time for or just hate to do. Personal shopping what w/holidays around the corner - anything to keep busy and make money. It is called Personal Assistant, pays well and is not a step down. The step down is poverty and soup kitchens, etc.

Yes, service business are where it's at. In my area of VA (large, densely populated area), I see vehicles with all sorts of business advertisements. Especially now at the holidays--there are business for addressing & mailing cards, wrapping gifts, shopping, catering, etc., etc., etc. I saw a TV thing a while back that said the new jobs were working for the "Richistan"--cooks, housekeepers, etc.--some jobs paying over 6 figures. What would we do if we were in Dubai??

Fancy penmanship that used to be taught in schools would be an asset - hand addressed invitations are a necessity.l...

So funny you say that, Julie. Peter Busch lives 1/8 mile
from me...and he ain't a hurt'in at all.
BTW, Julie, Peter had a great gal (exec. asst) for quite some time when I did business with his company and she was the bomb...too bad he let her go. After the kids grew up and moved on, things changed and she was no longer needed. I miss her, but I see big things for David.
Just another reason for you to visit Zero Beach!
We cleaned the bottom today and Charisma Too is ready to sail.
Julie, come on down!
I doubt I could keep up with you, but I am a trooper and I'll take you to Peter's 'special reserve' where you can see ostrich run free.

That's rich! I'm a beginner at best, fast becoming intermediate....just a day or two away...LOL. Had 2 dolphins next to me in the Banana River last week-end, no turtles or anything else that I saw anyway. Saw a couple of Angels - Blue ones. Wish I had been there for the shuttle take off tonight = it was spectacular from front of my house though, 35 mi. away. Sky was perfect, and when we finally went inside the TV heads were saying that it was now in orbit....

Frankly, I give this enterprising person a lot of credit. They are obviously trying to make it through this rough time, and are willing to do everything from cleaning house to cleaning up dog poop. I salute them.

I wish this person receives more calls than they can handle and have to use independent contractors for the overflow! They are showing initiative to help themselves and should be applauded! God Bless them.

Yep, I lived in that area, many people with big jobs, no time and lots of needs. I did equity loan signings for $250,000.00 and more. Can you imagine an equity loan for a quarter of a million dollars!? I am a horse nut and at one time I threw around the idea of starting a "large animal care provider" business. Kind of a "Call me to feed your horses while you're out of town" type of business. However when I checked into the liability laws for CA, I decided this wasn't something I wanted to pursue. One can get sued for just about anything in CA.

Blueink ...
I know two places in the horse world where there's money to burn and no liability, for those who know how to do it - cleaning/reconditioning tack (& winter blankets), and pre-show braiding. Even doing French Braiding for the riders - oops, I mean equestrians! Tip: hot-oil treatments (like VO5) do amazing things for horse tails! Keep it your 'trade' secret!
