Notary Questions
I don't get it. Why is it when a notary posts notarial questions that they don't just be a member of the National Notary Association and ask them what to do in certain situations. there has been a few times that I have posted questions but that is when the NNA was closed & I needed a fast answer or comment. the cost isn't that much....only $45 a year.

Simply put...
The NNA gets it wrong sometimes.
Jessie, let's put it this way, Notary Rotary is NOT the place to really ask about the NNA.
LOL

Because the NNA is the last place many of us would turn to for accurate notary information.
If you don't want to ask questions on this forum, then ask your SOS office. They are more authoritative than the NNA
Many of us used to belong to the NNA, and at one time they used to be "for the notary" and were a fairly good association to belong to. But over the past 6 years they have become a money grubbing organization with little value to the notary.
I dropped my membership with them in 2002 and kept my membership in the American Society of Notaries instead.
Quite a few of the signing agents posting on this board have more notarial knowledge in their little finger than the person you will get answering the phone at the NNA.

OK....now I understand where you all are coming from. In the past (several years ago) I had called NNA on several occasions and they did answer my questions with no issues. I guess the NNA has changed the way they operate business. I am not signed up with them for closing requests though. Thanks for commenting on my post! :0)

Yes, they changed in 2002 when they decided they could make more money from loan signing agents.

I guess using the orange search key was to much effort on your part. I do suggest you use it and research before signing up with them for closing requests. Right now if you have even read any of the threads on this site you would realize that the NSA business is in the tank and those of us that have been in this business are seeking out other ways to make a living.

Jessie has been in this business for quite a while, DTF, and in fact sends me a fair amount of business. Her question had nothing to do with seeking closings from the NNA; it pertained to why more notaries don't seek information from the organization. Your snideness was unwarranted.

Hugh, Enough of the personal attacks. I don't know who Jessie is, and she was given the best answer, to use the orange search key and she would have found all of the info she needed. The fact that she waited for Sylvia to give her one of the reasons instead of researching it herself is why I posted. Send me a list of all of your personal and business friends on this board and I will make certain that I don't respond to any of their inquiries, thereby hopefully, no more personal attacks from you.

Instead, DTF, let me send you a broom that you can use first on your own doorstep, to avoid such posts as the following directed at the original poster in this thread:

Well....this is one of the reasons why I don't like posting on this board. Even when someone asks a simple question it gets twisted around and they (including myself) get attacked. I have enough business generating where I don't need to sign up with any other companies. The companies find me and I get repeated business from quite a few good companies.
I did not ask about signing up with the NNA, what I asked is why don't notaries go through the NNA to get their notarial questions answered. I have never had a problem with getting any questions answered from them. There has only been a time or two that I had asked a question on this board because I couldn't get through to the NNA. And everytime I did, I would brace myself for the feedback, waiting for the attack!
When a new notary comes on this board, they are just asking simple questions so that they too can get into this business & to ensure that they are doing correct. They are not taking business from anyone else....there is enough business to go around. And I am waiting for everyone to attack me now! :0)
BTW, thank you Hugh for you backing me up! :0)

The problem many of us experience with the NNA (about questions and answers), isn't they they don't answer, because the typically always do provide an answer. However, the answer has, on many occasions, proved to be incorrect. It seems that all too often, the person who answers that phone there, answers the question without even researching, basing their response on what they 'think' is correct. California notary laws do not apply in the other 49 states. I'm not sure if the NNA customer service rep answering the question is even a notary, considering some of the responses I've seen or heard from notaries who have ask them questions.
