Thanks to whomever mentioned
a while back that the 2010 Census was hiring. I applied and took a test and now I am the Assistant Manager of Field Operations for Southern Indiana. They say at full bore I will have over 1000 employees working for me. This is a 2 year project. I am still going to close loans when I can, it's just not a full time gig right now. Hopefully the Real Estate market will bounce back by then. This is a great opportunity to supplement your notary income. You can call 1-866-861-2010 to find out if/when we are testing in your area. Anyone have any experiences from past Census's?

Dennis - I worked for them back in 1980 I believe and really enjoyed it. I started off working in the field but after that was over, they hired me to work in the office. Great temporary job!

I'm glad you mentioned it. I called a few months back & they were not hiring yet & then I completely forgot about it. I did work as a census taker in 2000 & it was a great part time gig, decent pay & very flexible hrs

I'm so glad it worked out for you. Can't say the same for me though. I applied but never heard anything. Followed up last week and learned that I had missed out on testing in my area by a few days. Grrr! I look forward to hearing about your adventures. Sounds interesting.

For any one in Los Angeles county, I have a contact person and phone number, and I was given a local test location for Field Operators to prequalify for these positions in Santa Barbara county, and other counties. They are staffing up. They are looking for excellent, qualified team players to join Census 2010 project.
