Failure to Pay

I have had a problem with Interstate Closeings as they only have paid a Trip Charge for a closeing that did not complete due to errors on the part of the lender. I requested payment in full as I had turned down other jobs that I could not accept as I had committed to their job. Beware this company Frown

Are you talking about Interstate Escrow? If so, it is pretty common if you are dealing with only a title company and not a signing agency, to not be paid if a closing/funding of a loan does not occur.
I like working directly with a title company because I get paid quickly, and sometimes more, however, since title does not get paid it is not uncommon for just a trip fee or even nothing. Errors occur on the part of lenders a lot unfortunately and that can cause the loan to cancel. So many things can cause that to happen. I spent 15 years underwriting loans so I have seen it happen a lot over the years.
I think I should be paid not matter what as well, but I know that not being paid is becoming even more common now unfortunately. If I have an established relationship with the company I will talk to them as well and tell them how I feel and see if we can work something out. Many times they will pay me out of their pocket to avoid losing me as a notary. It depends on the company and your relationship with them. That has worked sometimes for me as well. If they know I won't work with them again because I just cannot operate my business like that, sometimes they are willing to help me out.
Anyway, Interstate Escrow has been good to me in the past so if it is them, my experience has been that they will do whatever they can to help.
Good luck! Sorry that happened to you.....=-(
