Just Not My Day

Had three signings scheduled for today, good fees, docs received in timely manner, all close to home (I mean office), all three REFUSED TO SIGN. Couldn't pull a rabbit out of my hat to save my life. Sat and watched (not very long) as the borrowers called anyone who'd listen.

Well I'm glad to get that off my chest, I'm off to enjoy my weekend.

All y'all do the same!

Wow! What are the chances of that happening again? Was it the same lender for all three? My heart goes out to you. The only silver lining in this one is that I'm willing to bet it can't happen again. (Yep, I said it and I'm not knocking on wood.)

..."Was it the same lender for all three?...

No, three different lenders, title companies and circumstances (1 refi, 1 investment purchase, 1 REO)

I spent 8 hours driving yesterday

just to get two signings done. I'm at the end of a two hour drive getting to the borrower when my cell rings.... The SS tells me they modified the HUD and settlement and want me to print out the new one.... I don't get enough work to justify all that car printer stuff, so I go to the BO and ask him if he has/is willing to print some docs. - Sure, he says, but he has no legal paper or laser printer. The SS goes around her office and gets an approval to print it out on his inkjet on letter paper. It's a mess and too far in the boonies to try to find a kinko's or anything.

The other signing had fired the other notary and hired me. She starts calling people saying the signing has cancelled, now my cell is ringing off the hook by the BO and the LO and SS checking on me to see if I'm doing the signing...

If both of these SSs had sent me the docs early enough I could have cut my drive time in half, but no, I had to go back and fax/download/print and jump out for another four hour drive. After gas, daycare and other costs I only made 350 for the day.

Sorry to hear that. I'm experiencing that borrowers are much more cautious these days and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I hope those were ones you will be paid for, at least trip & print fees.

Last Saturday was my day...

Friday I had a signing way the hell up in the boonies... 40 miles. Everything was going wrong I was running a little late... not a problem with the signing but was going to mess up the rest of my day.

I'm within 5 miles and the borrower calls... they got the loan wrong, signing is off, they'll pay me a travel fee to come back Tuesday.

@#$% would be my first reaction, but the truth is, by sheer coincidence I had another thing to do just about exactly where I was when the cancellation came and I needed the time.

It's all good. I stoped, had breakfast I had skipped and got to my next appointment on time.

Another coincidence and I have 2 stops in her town Sunday... hadn't been to that town in at least 6 months. Can I put them off till Tues? Nope, wouln't work... off I go.

So I'm about 2 miles from her house at a coffee shop on Sunday when I get a call from her... lender fixed the docs and overnighted them, I've got 'em when could you come?

How about now?

No problem.

Just so ya know Rick... sometimes things go right. Sometimes.
