NNA-Have they been helpful to your Business
I have been a member of the NNA since 2005. This association really has not been beneficial to me. they do have supplies and a helpful textbook on the loan signing agents role. Has anyone out there find them to be helpful to their business. (No need for sarcasism..Thanks)

In the first six months I got quite a few calls from that
listing....in the last year and a half maybe 6 maximum...and most of them are low offers that I can't accept. So, the short answer is "Nope"...

If you use the orange search key you will find out what many
on this board think about the NNA. I have a very unfavorable view of the organization.

Oh Very, Very, Helpful.. NOT!!! LOOK>
The fee schedule, introduced in the winter edition of NSA Today, recommends that Certified Notary Signing Agents receive at least $65 for the first set of loan documents, while the base fee for noncertified Signing Agents is $50.
Here is the schedule of minimum fees for Notary Signing Agents:
Certified Signing Agent Minimum Fees First set of loan documents $65 Second set of loan documents $35 E-mailed loan documents $85 Cancellation (two hours or less) $35 Noncertified Signing Agent Minimum Fees First set of loan documents $50 Second set of loan documents $25 E-mailed loan documents $75 Cancellation (two hours or less) $25 "The new schedule of minimum fees is not a legal requirement but rather a strong recommendation based on fair treatment to all parties involved in a loan transaction," said NNA President Milt Valera.
"Self-regulation in the industry is preferred over the difficult process of enacting minimum fee laws in all 50 states," Valera said.

Yes. I know this organization is very controversial among notaries. I have mixed feelings about it myself. I have, however, benefitted from membership & benefitted from my Cert/BCG. It is a good marketing tool & I use it as such. What I don't like is their "minimum fee" structure--they are several companies, including NREIS, that go by that. I set my fees, not the NNA. My take on the whole thing is that "membership" is a choice--it is not mandatory--and they are not a dictatorship. Take it or leave it. I certainly don't agree with a lot of what they do (especially their marketing tactics). It only matters if I can make that membership work for me, and it does.

Re: Thanks Everyone for Your Feedback!
Personally they have helped me a lot in the past. A lot of my business now is repeat business, but a lot of my first time callers find me on signing agent.com, aka the NNA site. I have found it to be useful. I have also used the hotline a couple of times for questions. I have made back more more money than I have spent on them so I consider it to be a good investment.

Same here. This evil empire thing is way overblown.
I don't care what they post as 'suggested rates'. I dictate what my rates are and the customer has the option to accept or not.
I still get business from them and it is worth the fee (to me) to be a member.

No, they are not that helpful. I keep my membership with them. It is just another business expense. I do not follow their fee schedule.

Yes my membership has helped me a lot! I have spoken to a couple of executives at the NNA last week about their fee schedule! I informed them this schedule hurts all of us, also told them that many notaries on this site are very upset with them about the fees! I was asked if removing the fees all together would be a a good idea? Yes it would be! I volunteered my services to the committee that is currently researching the fee schedule! We will see what happens!

Outstanding, Claudine. I'm sure your award from NNA & your attendance at the conference will carry some weight. I think a lot of notarys are confused about what they expect from membership. It is not an "advertising" site, as such, even though they have the Notary Signing Agent section. I am aware that they "lobby" at state levels regarding notary laws, etc.

Yes...
...I get some business from SigningAgent.com and find their e-newsletters informative. I think that being certified by NNA adds to my professional background. I don't agree with their fee schedule, and just say "No" to companies that don't want to pay more.

Re: Yes...
Lynn, If everyone would say No to the low ball fees than we would all benefit. Problem is people are hungry and will take those low ball fees! What some may not realize is that if you accept them, the company will call you again and again, never offering you any more! They really are hurting themselves! Also not everyone has the great team that we all have here on Not Rot and maybe they just do not know the truth!
