Sign with an X
A lady that is to sign on Saturday cannot sign her name only an X. How do we handle this?

In Virginia, if a borrower signs with an X, we need two witnesses known to the borrower. What does your states handbook say and why is it that you don't know the answer to a question like this? Usually you know about these things before they come up.

Maybe their handbook does not say anything about signing with and X (Montana's for all I can see does not). Maybe the less harsh answer could have been to direct them to their SOS.

What did you find out so we all know as well. I have never been asked to do this, but I know it is possible. I don't know what you do either so I would like to know...thanks!

In the state of Washington two impartial witnesses are required in addition to the notary.

I found this form...
It comes from the WA DOT site... not sure if/how it might be helpful:
