The Closing Group, Louisville, KY
'Asked me to do signing tomorrow @4pm, but identified themselves as First American Title - met my fee and I accepted assignment. Then I got the confirmation I saw was from 'The Closing Co' and bells began to whistle. I emailed them asking who they were and they said they represented FA.
Looked them up, not good comments, so just gave it back to them.
Beware Orlando SA's...plenty of comments in signing central

Do not work for Trevor at the Closing Group. I am owed for a closing way back in May and I keep e-mailing to no avail. Do Not work for this company.

So, you are one of those who does not know what they are doing? That's the explanation I got about the forum posters. Believe me, I will believe you first Snoop. Thank you for your comments...hugs & kisses to you..

They've always paid me. The last job I did for them, in May, took nearly 60 days for payment but they were upfront with me that they were having financial issues. Both jobs I did for them in April/May were paid in full.
I would work for them again because I believe them to have integrity and they've always treated me more than fairly. Although, because of how the industry is going, I would limit how many I did for them prior to being paid for previous work. That's a good policy with any company, though. Julie

I have always been paid by Trevor, usually within 30-45 days. They had some difficulties a few months ago due to a title company closing the doors owing them $12K, so the extra time was understandable. I usually close 4-6 per month for them.

I stupidly accepted an assignment from them last September. They are now over 60 days from date of service, have ignored some of my e-mails, and two promised payment dates (in writing) have come and gone. I will be contacting the title company today.

I have to tell you Copperhead: I almost regretted giving the closing back, but sad (for you) to say your post confirms what I read or had sent to me by other notaries in the way of warnings. These snakes in the grass almost always blame it on the notary for not doing their job right or billing right or whatever they can conjure, all the while sounding so sweet, misunderstood and by golly, just so nice.
As a note to others: they all sound nice when they want something, and they want that job filled for THEIR profit.

I finally received payment at 78 days from The Closing Group after contacting the TC and broker by phone. I then sent an oh-so-polite e-mail to the TC summarizing our conversation and requesting a copy of the canceled check that was issued to The Closing Group as payment (they were paid upon funding).
I cc'd both Trevor and Beth at The Closing Group on this e-mail, and it produced the desired results. Angry e-mail from Trevor was received 30 minutes later and I received payment the following week.

Good For You. This company is going under. They are still trying to book assignments. Can you believe that. They are getting all kinds of calls from notaries that have not been paid. I called the office today to see when my check was coming for a signing I did back in August. I called title company and they informed me they sent the check out to the Closing group months ago.
