Time zone consideration

I wish CA and other Western companies would check their clocks more closely when they call Eastern SAs. Received a call after 8pm tonight for a signing "this evening". By the time I get docs (presuming I wouldn't have to wait at all for them...as if that happens often), print them out, drive there (in this case, 90 minutes away), odds are pretty good that at some time during signing we are into tomorrow. Sorry, no could do. Guess there's one other question we Eastern SAs have to ask . . . where are you calling from because "this evening" is pretty much gone over here.

and at 5 or 6 am, those of us in CA would like those on the east coast to remember that we are still asleep

Well parker, I take those calls for 'this evening'. I did one last night. Got home VERY late. You looked at the clock and said no can do - I made $150. If you think 'this evening' is over at 8:00 on the last day of the month ...

I had a call at 8:00 my time for a closing at 11:00 p.m. my time about an hour and a half away and they didn't have the docs yet! Needless to say I didn't take it. I always ask where the docs are coming from and advise them as to what the local time is.

One of my favorite things about EOM is when

Nations Direct calls around 7:30 pm........

Last night I told them I would not be able to take the late assignment because I could not get there at a reasonable hour. The scheduler says, "How about at an unreasonable hour?" I replied, " How about for an unreasonable fee?".

She ended up declining my offer of $750.....

Re: One of my favorite things about EOM is when

$750 sounds more reasonable than the $150 I got for my late night appt. But my last night's appt. client pays me $150 every time, no matter what and they give it to me several times a week.

I would have no problem with late signings as long as there is no chance that they would extend past midnight and into a new date.

If I run into that situation when it is too closze tro midnight, I have them sign all of the notarized docs, TIL, RTC and Itemization right when I get there so they are dated the right day, then I go back to the beginning.

Notarize BEFORE midnight

I agree with JoJo on this one. Sign & notarize the docs that require it before the clock strikes 12. Whatever is signed after that can be signed with any date the borrower chooses (including 5 minutes ago, which was yesterday).

My issue is that CT requires 2 witnesses. I can be one, but not too many people are comforatble with asking a neighbor to witness late at night. I know I wouldn't call my neighbor to come over at 10 or 11 pm to witness.

It's kind of humorous. When my phone rings at 8, 9, 10 pm, I know it's CA calling.
IMO they're not geared to call the east coast in the early afternoon (PSS). AT EOM everything is a last minute push, but it's sometimes just not possible. There's even more pressure to close now with all the FHA loans that will lose a whole months interest if it doesn't fund by end of month. I pass on these, and let them to the notaries that are out there that are "midnight riders".

I agree with you....I do not work that late. When I first started out I did a few late signings and they turned into nightmares!!!!!!!!! Personally, I do not like being at someone's house past about 9pm. That is just my business practice. Juice aint worth the squeeze at 11pm. JMO

Hawaii is the opposite!

I get calls regularly at 3-4am from the East Coast! For some reason a lot of people think Hawaii is the same time zone as California...we are 3000 miles away!!! Even so, I am always amazed at how these schedulers don't even realize sometimes that there are even time zones at all!! =-)
In my case, when the phone rings at some god awful morning hour I know it is the east coast calling....and sometimes California when some dingbat thinks we are in the same time zone! =-)

I have had to turn off my ringers on my phones because if not, they wake up the whole family!
