Using IC3 to help collect...futile? Or resourceful?

I am just curious if anyone has filed a complaint through IC3, and has actually had their claim resolved? I have searched through the msg's but haven't seen any resolutions through IC3. My claim complaint is embarrassingly low compared with some amounts being sought after, however, it is the principle of the matter, and I, like everyone else, deserves to paid for services rendered regardless of the amount. Perhaps I should follow through with a collection agency. Any and all opinions or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so very much!

Someone posted at one point that they had filed a claim with IC3 and were paid a week later. There was no direct evidence that one thing led to the other, and it's much more likely that the two things happened independently - anyone who has ever dealt with the Feds knows that NOTHING happens that quickly when they're involved.

I think you're wasting your time following that route; the Feds are looking for significant fraud, not someone who was stiffed out of a couple hundred bucks. Common sense tells us they just don't have the manpower to do otherwise. If you can get a couple hundred people who have been stiffed by the same company to make a coordinated complaint to the IC3, you might get their attention; otherwise, your complaint is probably somewhere near the bottom of a very deep pile...

Just my opinion - I've never read or heard about a documented case where IC3 has helped anyone collect on a small bad debt.

Yep, that sums things up.....I filed a complaint 2 or so months ago......no feedback as of yet.

IC3? For help collecting on an account?

The IC3 deals with internet crimes, not non-payment for services. It's not quite the same thing.

I know they take complaints for this, but I tell you...they don't really follow-up on it because non payment of an in invoice is a civil matter, not a criminal manner. The IC3 should only get involved if it's criminal.

Your best bet is to file a small claims case in the county where the signing took place. You could also hire a collection agency... but a route I would go would be to find an attorney who would be willing to write a letter on you rbehalf telling them they need to pay up or you're going to take them to court. Those types of letters usually end up getting paid quickly.

Re: IC3? For help collecting on an account?

Thank you all for your very quick replies. I will heed your advice and make the best at my attempts to collect this debt by different and probably more effective means. Have a great rest of weekend...
