good notary pay for rural notary

I'm still new enough that I'm not sure how to figure out what is a good pay rate for signings and what should I do about milage? my average commute is 30+ miles.

I prefer a simple system so that when I get a call I can

give my fee without having to look anything up.

I set my fees by county where the signing is to take place.

There is always beauty in simplicity ...

I agree with keeping it simple. In my area counties tend to be as big as some States so I divided my area up into zones. In my case I use geographic features (rivers which are close to being equidistant in this area) to delineate the zone boundaries and I just have flat rates for each zone.

Many of us, rural or not, set a base fee (figuring say up to 30 miles) & then additional fees for distance (either flat rate or per mile). For example, if you have a base fee of $100/w edocs & then $25 for mileage up to 50 miles & another $25 for 20 more miles, etc. I live in a densely populated area & it's never been much of an issue.
