shopping for E&O

Searched E&O and am not finding recent posts. Have compared NNA and Notary Rotary prices (member / premier member pricing) and they are exactly the same for the bond and $100,000 E&O 4 yr. term. Any recent experience purchasing these products? TIA.

Well, I know that you can't purchase E&O through NotRot unless you purchased your bond through them as well. Dunno if that helps or not, but you should know that a lot of E&O issuers work the same.

I don't know if purchasing the E&O and the Bond at the same place is a Ca requirement but if not. I purchased my E&O insurance here and I already had my bond

Try E. R. Munro and Company, Pittsburgh. They sell notary bonds and E&O.

Re: That's too bad because bonds aren't available in OR

I should have said that I CAN'T buy bonds in OR. Apparently since they aren't required in Oregon, companies don't sell them. At least that's true for the companies I've looked at.

I've never cared for the idea of a bond anyway, I'd rather carry the insurance and keep all my assets in trust.

Don't be deceived Steven....

<<<.......I'd rather carry the insurance and keep all my assets in trust.>>>

A trust is designed to help you avoid probate and reduce or eliminate estate and inheritance taxes. A trust is NOT asset protection from a lawsuit. You have to look specifically into asset protection (C or S Corporation, etc. ) to insulate your assets from a lawsuit. Consult with your attorney for further details as I am not an attorney, though I have watched LA Law for years on TV.

THanks, Linda... I was just quoting the FAQs on

the website here, so I wasn't sure.

In my case, I have always purchased the $10,000 minimum (low cost) simply because some agencies ask if I have coverage. It does nothing to protect me as a Signing Agent in that capacity, so I don't spend the extra money when I check/double check/triple check my notary work just to make sure there are no errors before submitting the dox.

Re: Nothing against NR, but if in PA

and you belong to PAN, E&O insurance is MUCH cheaper. AND they now offer signing agent insruance.
