Anyone recommend a good, reliable printer?

I have used HP in the past and my P2015 does not work any longer and is not under warranty. I could possibly spend $40 for tech support but then there will be a charge for any hardware they may need to send me. Apparently this printer is discontinued but I also found out other people have had similar problems as well where it did not last long.

What other printers can people suggest? HP is fine; I will just have to make sure I pay for a service plan.

TIA

Me too. I've had a HP 1320t for over 2 years. No problems.

I have a HP 1320tn that I’ve used for years, and printed thousands of pages, with no problems. I just bought (7 months ago) a HP2015x, and have used it a little (on my second print cartridge) Now you’ve got me worried! Also HP has a 3015 on sale for $450 off

I have an HP 4100n. Bought it refurbished and haven't had a single problem with it in almost 3 years. I love it. Truly a workhorse.

have an HP 4200 dtn. Bought it refurbished and haven't had a single problem with it in almost 2 years. I love it. Truly a workhorse and more economical than 1320.

Lost HP fever - bought a Lexmark 642 dtn year and a half ago

It's very fast, relatively inexpensive to operate and a major workhorse. Draws from the dual trays seemlessly. It's my primary network printer and Windows 98, Windows XP and Windows Vista all print with no problems. Around here, I see them frequently labeled as IBM, but usually with the Lexmark label on them. I'm not sure why, but see them in many offices, Wal-Mart, Sams Club and Costco. But, in order to get a good deal on toner, it's necessary to shop on the internet. While the big box clubs use them, they do not carry the toner for sale. Another disadvantage - it cost about $1,250 at the time.

I am a Brother advocate. They are less expensive at purchase than HP, and although the drum must be replaced, I find that I can locate inexpensive drums and refill toner online.
I have the HL 5140 and the MFC 8460n and couldn't be happier with both.

I am with you Mysty. I have very good experience with brother printers, no need to change the drum every 20K pages, just reset the drum count and your set for another 20K and keep on resetting till the print quality is not good. I have one HL-5140 that it is close or a little over 100K pages with the same drum. And that printer has been refilled 9times with an aftermarket cartridge from inkjetsuperstore, and keeps printing fine!

Me too Misty, I have the HL-5140 and MFC-8440. They both use the same toner and drum and you can scan legal docs to email instead of faxing.

Thank you for all the suggestions...Where is the best place

to shop for printers? I usually go to Staples and they don't sell the 5140. (I only saw the 5240). Best Buy doesn't seem to have a big selection either.....

TIA

Re: Thank you for all the suggestions...Where is the best place

I bought mine as a refurbished model on line 3 yrs ago and never had a problem. Just use google and enter in the model that you want and look at the different sites and be sure to check out their rating. I use http://www.amatteroffax.com they have some wonderful deals. Also check out the Office Max online store they usually will give first time buyer's a $30.00 discount. Hope this helps.

Office Max online; Brother online store for refurbished also, sometimes good deals.
I don't shop eBay for computer stuff - just me; others report success but, well, just me.
