Automotive notary

I've used the orange seach button but couldn't find anything pertaining to automotive notary work. Does anyone have any info on this? When I googled, there wasn't much to be found either. Any help would be much appreciated!

Apparently, it's notarizing documents for automotives. I've done a little bit of research and it may be possible to make money for any auto documents that need to be notarized.

Thanks Roger - I looked at the Maverick website but wsan't sure if they are legit. I may go to a local automotive dealer and see how they complete paperwork.

FWIW - No notary is needed in Texas for title transfer.

In case any Tx. notaries were curious.

I did one signing for Maverick about 2 months ago. I was signing the grandfather who was co-signing a loan for his out of state grandson. I notarized one document stating that I had checked his ID. That was it. He had lots to sign but the whole package was very self explanatory. It took about 10 minutes. I also took and passed thier test with the promise of more work but haven't heard anything. They paid very fast, within 2 weeks. Not sure how you could persue more work except keep your memberships current as they found me in a search for a mobile notary in my state.

I, too, have done one signing similar to Anita's for Maverick. Paid no fee for any reason. Took no test. Doesn't seem to be a lot of work in this field. Yes, they did pay timely.

Thanks for the info, Lee. Your's and Anita's information both are very helpful. I'll have to check this out - there's tons of auto places out there within 20 mile radius of me. Hopefully, this isn't a scheme/scam.

Thanks Anita - it looks like Maverick is charging about $30 for training to be an automobile notary.

if auto paperwork needs notarized in your state, the dealerships have someone on staff. What you have been reading about is something different.

Check if you state DMV has special requirements. I know I heard of a notary in PA that is doing this, but has to be registered with the DMV & fulfill certain requirements.

Well, Maverick Signings is definately legit. I was actually their Notary of the Month in July. =-)
They are a great company to do work for. They pay quickly and signings are very easy.
Not much volume these days...but nothing is. I am in Maui so car sales are pretty slow. Most of the ones I have done have been for car dealerships on the mainland where people are having a car shipped here.
Maverick is the only company I know of and work with. If you need any info on them send me a message. Good luck!!!

not "a" notary, lots of notaries. They issue license plates, transfer ownership, collect sales tax, renew drivers licenses and vehicle registrations - I believe everything our dept of trans does. Not sure what's required - education, bond, contract, etc.

These notaries have 'stores' ... every town has several of them ... that's why we don't get much 'public notary' work here ... no need to pay our travel fees when people can stop somewhere on the way home from work.

Re: Automotive Notary

In CT the Department of Motor Vehicles Offices all notarize their state automotive forms for free (grumble, grumble). Not much money for a Notary to make there. DMV employees are allowed to notarize the DMV forms _only_, and only while on duty, not do other Notary stuff unless they have a real Notary Public commission themselves (which some do).

As a consumer, being able to get my DMV form notarized for free while at the DMV Office is A Good Thing. As a Notary, however, ... well, I guess we gotta give 'em some perks for standing in those lines. And $5 isn't much these days.
