FedEx mis-shipped a package of loan docs

The story actually has a happy ending, but it had me worried yesterday.

I did a purchase transaction last Friday morning. The signing was at the loan officer's home. I made out the FedEx shipping label while I was still there and let the loan officer photocopy it. Immediately after the signing I took the documents to FedEx and handed them to the clerk.

On Monday morning the LO called and asked me if I shipped the documents. The title company didn't receive them. I checked the status on FedEx and it showed that the package was delivered and signed for.

BUT, the title company didn't receive a package of loan docs. Instead they received a BlackBerry that was to be shipped back to Verizon.

This was obviously a FedEx error. Sure enough, the title company just called me and told me they received the docs. (whew!) FedEx stuck another label on top of the one I used. They caught their mistake before the package actually made its way to Verizon.

The only problem now is, ... where is that BlackBerry?

Leon, you said, "The only problem now is, ... where is that BlackBerry?"

I hope it wasn't yours. I imagine someone may be on the hook for the the cost.

No, the BlackBerry belonged to someone else. My guess is that the title company gave the package containing the BlackBerry to the FedEx driver so it could be sent where it needed to go.

I got a package today from FedEx for a signing

tomorrow - it was not outside at 8:30 when I went out to get my paper...went to check my mail at 1:30 and it was out there - soaked...and we didn't have any rain today. Not only that but the end of the envelope was open...docs exposed....

I dried the docs out this afternoon but they were all crinkled so I photocopied them to make them presentable originals. I called title immediately to let her know the condition of the package so she could take it up with FedEx at her end. Thank heavens at least the package was salvageable....

Don't know what's going on with FedEx but these guys almost never come to my door any more - they just leave stuff - don't knock, don't ring the bell...nothing. Half the time I find stuff by accident...
