Land America Reverse Mortgages
Has anyone received a notice stating LA would like you to pay $10 to take a test in order to qualify to do RM's for a new client of theirs? I've done a number of these and have never been asked this.

Always a major red flag when a company asks you to pay for something!

Absoulte, total, and complete BALONEY.
I don't pay money to get work...no how, no way....not on your life....nada...never.
I also don't take tests.....for nobody...period...end of story.
I've been doing signings for 9 years and I was a real estate agent 18 years before that.
If that "ain't" good enough for them...tough beans.
If they want me to do a reverse mortgage bad enough, just watch.....
they'll call....even if there's no $10 up front or test taken.
After all..necessity is the mother of invention.

They were the only company giving me any closings this year, so I called and talked to them about this. They have been good to do business with in the past. I took the test, figuring it was a small investment to keep some business coming.

I agree...it's not much for the purpose.
I know I'll get 50 lashes for saying that, but it's true.
They make me sick asking for it, but I can't blame a notary for doing it.
Would you let me/us know how it works out for you?

my question would be
if your work was 'good enough' during the past year, why do you now have to take a test? Perhaps if you never worked for them previously ... perhaps not also.
I too would pay $10 to retain a good client ... Land America would not be a 'good' client in my eyes with their low ball fees.

I can understand your position. It worries me when large companies start asking for money, for any reason. IMO, the big picture would be say 40,000 notaries in their database x $10 each--a hefty piece of change.
