Notary Talk Discussion

"The Notary Talk Discussion Forum is a free service offered by Notary Rotary™. It was created to allow professional notaries public to share experiences, advice and opinions with other members of the profession. Discussion topics can be as general as basic notarial procedures or as specific as how the notary loan signing agent is to handle a particular signing scenario."

This forum has become anything but a forum for professional notaries to discuss professional topics. Looking at all the unrelated posts about birthdays and the health of relatives, people searching for notaries must not take this website seriously anymore. I am thinking that one would be wasting their money to renew membership here. I know I will get blasted for posting this by all the sycophants who love to praise all the prominant posters but I rarely look at this forum anymore as I don't care about who's birthday it is, etc., etc.

I'm not sure what you're reading there UK

but over the last several days I see only 4 that were health, birthdays or unrelated (one being political posted here in error)....all other threads were very on topic and very interesting.

Keep in mind, people looking for notaries probably aren't wasting time reading the forum..if they're looking for a notary they're clicking on "Find a Notary" and searching there...if they're taking the time to read the forums, then hopefully they're searching them for the poster's name to get an idea of the notary's professional input. That being said, it sure would help them if, in going through the forum, they could click on a poster's profile...<G>

Sorry you feel this board isn't serving it's intended purpose. I, for one, feel it is....perhaps if you come here looking for something in particular, you should skip the forum altogether and just use the search feature - it would probably be better for you as you can skip all the other posts that don't answer your questions.

Of course, JMHO

My mother use to tell me as a little boy. You will meet a lot of people in your lifetime. Not everyone you meet in life is going to like you... With the number of people using this forum, not everone is going to agree. As for me... I think it has great information and I enjoy using it.

Uk, I love this forum and I receive a wealth of tips and info here. There is a lot of the other stuff too. I skip over what is not important to me. There are many opinions here and I do not agree but such is life!

The mortgage industry has tanked, NSA work is DOWN!

That is my opinion. How's that for relevance?
I also think we are seeing more OT posts because of it.

Playing devil's advocate here..but I think his point

is the OT posts should be restricted to the leisure forum and he feels the work forum is being overrun with OT posts - I agree OT posts should kept in Leisure but in no way feel the work forum is being overrun with OT posts and for those that ARE posted here I don't feel this forum is any the worse for them. This post is not in agreement with UK.
The OT posts are not overrunning, but when you start making the line grey instead of black by saying that some are ok and others are not goes against the intent of the work form.
They may be ok to some and to other an annoyance. That is why the line need to be black.

So, who's duty is it to define black? I would suggest it's

Harry's and I don't see him complaining. Coujld it be that your black and that of others may not be the same?

Any company searching for a notary would obviously click on the "Find a Notary" tab above as opposed to looking through the linked profiles in the discussion forum.

I don't see how could wishing someone a happy birthday or showing compassion for a peers family health issues could possibly make people look unprofessional. One of the key factors in professionalism is "caring".

IMO this forum is one of the best for Notaries Public. I have been coming on here for more than a year and the wealth of information I've gleaned has been enormous. Yes, I took classes and yes, I was certified, but the majority of information, based on members own experience, has been incomparable. If it wasn't for this forum and the information obtainable, I would be out there doing closings and having to go back a second time to fix my mistakes. I do go to other forums and there is a lot of information there also, but I have to say that this one has been the best by far.

Right now this is the most active notary board that I know of. There is a wealth of information here & it is a good place to pose questions. You might not realize that the "Happy Birthday" was for Paul Williamson, who is known for his contributions & advise in the notary field. Like the rest of us, you might need to "filter" some of the posts--some of which get way out of hand. It's like anything else, taking the good with the bad. It's your choice.

Not always crazy about some of the personal stuff either

But this is by far the best forum out there. It's the most visited, it's the most informative, most of those offering help and advice truly are the best and brightest in the business and not just in their own minds, they offer honest assistance without tooting their own horn or secretly trying to get you to buy into something else or visit their site, and yes, this is by far the most interesting and entertaining forum. And after all, some of us have been chatting and sharing for years and years so it is personal at times.
