Threatened by a Title Co.
I was just threatened by a Title Co. because I had the audacity to ask where my payment is. She said she is going go to all the Notary websites and tell them how unprofessional I am. I said, "Go ahead, you can't hurt me, so don't even try". Here's what happened. I performed a closing on 8/13/08. The closing funded in a week. I called last week and was told my check was returned to them because they sent it to the wrong address. (Yeah, right, I've heard that before). She said they sent it to me again last week. Well, here it is, Sept. 2 and I still don't have it. She said most companies don't pay notaries for 30 or 60 days. I told her I don't extend credit for that long for Title Co's. She said she isn't going to use me anymore and I said "that's good because I'm particular who I work for". In case you're wondering, the Title Company is Cleveland Home Title. Title companies are getting as bad as Signing Services, in my opinion. Good day, everyone. DD

Would you maybe post that TC on Signing Central for any future reference?

I have never really left postings on here so I hope that I am doing this correctly. I have done several closings with Cleveland Home Title and find them more than easy to work with. I have always been paid at the time of funding without exception. I have work in connection with the closing companies that find the notary for them, Computer Solution Concepts and Americas Closing Solutions. They are both great closing companies and also pay at the time of funding or within a day of it. The escrow officer Karen is especially great to work with. I am sorry that you had some type of difficulty, however, unless the invoice is more than 30 days old, I agree with the previous post..... it is bad to burn bridges in this business, being what it is. In dealing with Karen at the title company, I have found her to be VERY honest and easy to coordinate closings with. I have found them to be one of the only title companies out there that actually pays the notary, via the closing company, at the time of funding. That just doesn't happen anymore, at least not in my experience. To insinuate that a person is "lying" because one is told that the check was returned, for what ever the reason, is just bad business and maybe not in your best interest. Errors happen, every day. Maybe you should have handled it a little differently. That is just my opinion though. Good luck though! I am sure they will resolve the issue for you. - Ellen

Always act in your own best interest.
Repeat after me... always act in your own best interest.
I agree it's annoying to be told lies... or honest errors, or whatever.
Annoying as hell.
On the other hand
The bill is 22 days old. I'm not sure I'd burn my bridges over it. And I sure as hell wouldn't post it anywhere.
She was right, it hasn't been very long. A little graciousness might have been the solution.
