***PACIFIC DOCUMENT SERVICES-BOUNCED CHECK***

I just received word from my bank that my check from Paul Gambs at Pacific Document Services just bounced. I am also owed for another signing as well and am requesting a certified check or to pay me through pay pal for both payments.
Normally I don't post negative things like this, but this company has bounced checks before so I know I am not the only one. It is just so upsetting to have this happen is these difficult times. Now I am short the payment plus the fee my bank charged me. I am sure he will rectify it, but it should not happen in the first place!!
I am just getting so fed up with these things and it takes a lot to make me feel fed up!!
I won't be signing for them anymore....another one I cannot trust. The list is getting longer by the minute....ugh!!!
Anyone else hear from their bank today??? =-)

Don't waste a lot of time on this clown. He pays in a hurry when you file a small claims action against him and the title company. Don't forget to add the bank fee and the court fees to the bill.

Brilliant !!!

You burn a bridge with a title company over payment less than 30 days old and yet you take an order from a company that has a reputation, for at least several months, of bouncing checks. As so often, maybe I'm missing something here.

Re: Brilliant !!!

Sue, I am confused my your message. I am not sure what you mean by burning a bridge with title and payment less than 30 days old. Could you clarify because I am not sure what that has to do with this posting. Title was never mentioned and the payment actually was overdue when I received it at 45 days. Let me know what you mean......thanks!!! =-)

Re: Christine..that was for DD

Oh, thanks Linda. I was confused.....=-). I just would suggest to DD to call him when she receives the check to make sure it is ok to deposit because of the bounced check issue. Go to the bank the check is drawn on if you have that bank near you would be even better and cash it then and there. I unfortunately don't have that option here in Hawaii.
Maybe I am naive, but I do think Paul means well and is doing what he can, unfortunately, it is at our expense when he makes these errors.
It won't happen again to me, though. You know the saying, "happens once shame on them, happens twice shame on me" ...or something like that.
He may just need lessons on balancing a check book correctly. =-)
Times are tough out there guys....I am over here in very very expensive Hawaii and I need every penny I can get just to survive.
Just gotta move on and think positive and be grateful that I will be paid in the end.

thanks!!! Happy Aloha Friday as well call it here....just gotta get better..couldn't be much worse. ........=-)

Re: Brilliant !!!

this individual posted a thread a few days ago about basically going balistic on a title company because he/she decided they were liars when payment wasn't in his/her hot little hands within days of closing. Can't remember the details but he/she apparently threatened all sorts of legal action - and 30 days hadn't even passed. Now he/she has taken a closing from a service (while it appears the guy is sincere about keeping his business open and one that has historically had a good reputation in this business) that is in financial trouble if they want to believe their peers about slow payment and bounced checks the past few months. I'm just not sure of this person's thought process regarding payments.

Yeah! You're missing something alright.
I just love it when everyone jumps in to defend the crooks and on a first name basis no less. I remember when I was accused of being unproffessional for suggesting taking a SS to small claims court. Well it works! And those are the bridges I love to burn.

Do you know what you're even responding to? DD threatened to bring legal action against a title company for nonpayment - not even 30 days after the closing. DD now says he/she did work for a company with a very poor payment reputation - chances are really good that money isn't coming in within his/her apparent payment terms. What am I missing?

It just seemed like this thread was heading in that direction, figured we might as well jump to the end and save everyone a lot of typing.

Au contraire! Sue has been in this business a long time and understands more than most people on here. She is very respected and deserves that respect.
I read the threads abut a week ago bashing her, and I was appalled.
Sue earned my respect and many others respect on here many years ago.
You could learn a lot from her.

Sue - You're awesome!

You kill me....This reply was awesome!

Just a tidbit of info on that old post of DD/OR's - She neglected to return here and post receiving the check from the aforementioned title company via overnight mail on 9/4/08. It would show how unprofessional and unreasonable she was. (I guess that title officer wasn't such a liar after all.)

Goes to show that there are still honest title companies and signing companies out there.

I was wondering, what is the name of their bank? I'm thinking we should call their bank first to see if the funds are in there. Then take it to their bank branch instead of depositing it.

I just spoke to Paul and he said that the money will be there on Monday and to redeposit the check and he will pay my bank fee as well in my next check. He owes me for another one too of which I am going to call him to make sure it is ok to deposit the check when I receive it. The only thing is, it takes several days from the day I deposit in my bank to when it clears his bank. The bank is Bank of America, which we don't have here, and I called them also and they said they cannot confirm if there are sufficient funds to cover a check.
Paul has always be good to me in the past and I asked him about the bounced check thing before when I agreed to signings for him and he said they just had some issues that they resolved.
In the future now I will have to have him pay via pay pal or through title. I hate doing that because he is actually a nice guy from the work I have done with him before but this is not acceptable to me.
Sometimes you take a risk and it turns out fine but this time it didn't, well, he is paying in the end, but it was stressful having the notice come from the bank and my trust in him is gone now.
I must say that is was nice that he called me late on a Friday night to talk to me about it. Most places wouldn't even bother doing that.
Anyway, another lesson learned even after all these years!

Re: I could be wrong....

but last year I tried to verify a bank account had the funds in it and Bank of America would not give me that information over the phone (this was persoanl not business related). Anyway, I did a closing for Paul a few months ago. The check did not bounce, however, my bank put a 7 day hold on the check. And to Paul's credit, he did respond promptly to all my questions/concerns in a professional manner - of course I did not start out by threatening legal action either.

Check his history on this board.

He did that to me and shorted the first check, sent the $25 balance that he shorted me and that bounced too. He did make them good but I consider myself lucky and will not go down that road again. Too much trouble

I do not care if he is nice or what ever, I don't like nice people that does business like that. I stopped working for him, they call me from his office for loan modification loans for 35.00 what an insult! I would wait to pay my notaries a few more days till I would have enough funds to cover all my checks. I think he does not care about the reputation in the boards.

Reply From Paul Gambs

This is Paul Gambs from Pacific Document Services, I have read some recent posts in both this forum along with notary123. In response to these posts i want to assure each and every notary and or attorney that we have had some issues in an extremely difficult 08', with that being said we intend to wheather the storm and will always honor our checks for services rendered. For those of you that have worked for us during our 16 year existence realize that i can always be reached via phone and or e-mail. I have always re-issued any checks that are returned along with paying any fees that are incurred. I have never been one to make excuses and i never will, for those of you who continue to work with Pacific Document Services, it is my goal to return to the 15 and a half years of always paying our notaries every 2 weeks. I truly believe we have began to see the light at the end of the tunnel, our business has increased in the last quarter and the remaining months of 08' look promising. I have personally invested a lot of money into our company and as a promise to all of the notaries and or attorneys who work for us you will always be paid in full for you services renderded. I am always available to each and every person who either reaches me by phone or tries to reach me via e-mail. For those of you who choose not to work for us I truly understand and wish you nothing but the best of luck. For the people who have done 100's or better yet thousands of loans for us I will not let you down!!!
Sincerely,

Paul Gambs

Paul just called me at 10pm Calfornia time. I really appreciate your taking the time to call me. I know it is difficult for everyone right now, including myself.
I hope that things get better for all of us so we can get back to doing signings and not worrying so much about if we will get paid or not. I enjoy my work so much and this stuff just makes things so complicated and stressful. It is necessary to share this information and I want to share too that Paul has been taking the time to contact me several times to see what he can do to rectify this. I appreciate that very much.

Thanks again for your calls. I do appreciate you taking the time to do that. Many companies would not even bother.

Re: Reply From Paul Gambs

I guess you have your favorites notaries. When I first started working for you on the very first loan I did, at the 30 days I called if I dont have my check, when I called you, you said that in your years of SS you always paid at 45 days I told you no big deal I will wait for my check another 2 weeks. So I do not understand why I was always paid at 45-60 days. So I was the only one that never got paid within your 2 weeks? In all the years I worked for Paul I never got a call for a missing signature, initial, seal, etc. Or complain for been late, or that the borrower never got a call on time, or drop the package late. NOthing. So I did my part professionally but when your start getting shorted checks and then those shorted checks bounced, you can't do business like that.

My personal experience with PDS

A few months ago I received a bounced check from PDS. Paul, who is always reachable by phone, reissued another check including my bank fees. I know this situation is quite stressful, but I was patient and followed up with Paul until I was able to get full payment, for which I am very grateful.

Good luck to everyone !
Thanks,
Janet

Re: My personal experience with PDS

Paul just sent me a cashier's check via FEDEX today for my next payment. He bounced the other one he owed me for, which I reposited and for the other one he just sent it out overnight.
He also has called several times to apologize and make sure I am ok.
He has gone above and beyond the call of duty in this situation.
It was very upsetting to have a check come back in the mail like that, but he has done a lot to help me feel better.
I just wanted to let everyone know. I will probably require cashier's checks or pay pal for future signings just to make sure it doesn't happen again, but at least for now, I am happy that he has rectified this situation.
Mahalo, Paul. I appreciate it...aloha
