When you replace the drum, the indicator should automatically reset. You can get the manual (in PDF) by downloading it directly from HP: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00292207/c00292207.pdf
Replacing the imaging drum is described in detail in that manual.

Thanks, I will use that when we get the new drum, but was hoping there was a way to "fake out" the printer while we're waiting. This is not mine, I'm trying to help out a friend. She didn't order any drums ahead of time and is stuck without a printer. Is it possible to fake out an HP? Thanks again

You really can't "fake out" the printer, and for a very good reason. The image drum has a fixed, finite life. That's the way it was designed. To protect the other parts in the machine, and to keep the user from complaining about poor print quality, the printer protects the user from himself/herself.

Ok
I'm properly chastised... I have been researching drum prices for her, she does have an old inkjet she can use. (NOT for loan docs!) Thanks Paw
