21st Century Legal checks bounced
I have 3 checks for modifications that I did for 21st Century Legal Services that bounced. I have not been able to contact them yet as they are in CA but just a heads up for everybody. I'll let you know what happens.

I see now what you are referring to. No slander or libel here. I have the proof from my bank ...

Well, I am just busting to see what eloquent pearls of reasoning they have for three bounced checks. I wonder if 21st is the only one in the room that has not figured out, bounced checks mean......Issues!. I feel bad for you Jennifer. I am sorry they bounced! There is no excuse for that. Hang in there, hopefully they will do the right thing and get you paid.

They keep calling and I keep turning them down. I brought up the bounce checks and the girl said oh just tell them contact us and we will make them good......she just could not understand why I would work for them.....I am not this desperate for work.

They called me 4 times last week. Each time I told them that I thought what they were asking me to do was illegal in CO. (I’m not a licensed loan broker) But if these dubious characters are clearly doing things that are illegal, and their major business infuses is to misrepresent, and cheat their clients…what makes you think they intend to pay you…or anyone?

Re: 21st Century Legal checks bounced/PS
I posted this on another board in January: I agree with Claudia. I would never ever work for these people. I do not believe you are acting as a ‘Notary Public’ in most of these cases. Nor as a ‘ Notary Signing Agent’. You are really acting an ‘agent’ of those that hired you. I believe in some States one would have to be a licensed ‘loan broker’ to do this legally. I also believe for the pittance they are paying that you are taking an enormous risk of being involved in some legal action down the road, when some of these disgruntled borrowers find out what really has transpired. Unless I was covered under their liability insurance and also listed as a direct employee (not a subcontractor) and they split the fee with me, would I consider doing this. And my first words to the client would be “Do you understand that you can probably get this SAME service elsewhere for NO fee?” Yup “Caveat Emptor” but I sure don’t want to tell the Judge that.

Same problem 21st Century Legal checks bounced
Spoke to Supervisor Monday, she gave explanation. She had someone from office call me within 15-20 minutes, got the info. from me and said they would cover the check and bank charges. They claim that they had to close an account because so many checks from the clients "they are helping" had bounced it was closed and they did not realize that uncashed checks on the account would not clear from the newly created account. I felt like they would not have called me back if they did not intend to pay me, so I am hoping that I will get re-paid. Will update SC if/when I receive payment.

I hope that you do get paid Jim. I left several messages today in the general voicemail with no return call. I only have the general number which doesn't really get me anyplace. I'll try again tomorrow with the person who scheduled me.
