Champion Title and Settlements
Located in Potomac Falls, Va. I worked for them on Feb 26 requested my check be sent to Baltimore address, they sent it to Florida, however the check was written for April 10 and Mailed April 14. This company told me they mailed it April 3rd ha ha the jokes on me. Just got the check April 25 after forwarding. The accounting office obviously doesn't tell the truth. Forwarding or not very slow at paying us. Has anyone worked for them recently and had a good experience. Thanks

Not trying to defend the title company, but ... When it comes to accounting, the person handling the payment may have "submitted the claim (invoice) for payment" on 4/3 (a Friday) after the days checks were already cut. Checks are then cut on the following Friday, 4/10 and submitted for approval and signature; placed in the outgoing mail at the end of day. Checks didn't get to the post office until the following Monday, 4/13 and processed by the post office on 4/14.

Hey sport, you missed the whole story. Feb 26 I do the job and April payment is received. Even though the payment went to Florida and back paying 2 months later isn't acceptable especially from a title company.

That doesn't sound like how they typically handle payments... sorry to hear that happened. I worked for them twice in Feb 2009 - received payment in 15 and 18 days. I just worked for them again last week - too soon to receive payment on that one.

Update on my payment experiences:
The last two jobs I did for Champion (one in April and one in May) payment was not received as usual. For both, I had to follow up at 30 days inquiring about payment status. Even though I always send my invoice back with the package, A/P dept said they didn't have my invoice. OK, no problem, I sent it again. They sent payment and it was received on day 47.
However, then the May invoice had the same issue. After my second inquiry, they claimed they mailed the check a week ago in response to my first inquiry, but I am in the same state they are and no check has arrived - it's now 53 days since date of service.
The first one I was willing to believe was an irregularity, but now the second one has the same problem? Hmm.

2nd update. Just received the check - according to the postmark, it was mailed a week after they said it was. Hmm... Total of 56 days since date of service.

While I don't understand how your particular situation occurred and can't comment - I have nothing but great comments about Champion Title. Schedules early, packages neat and small, no fax backs, there if you need them, pays a fair fee and pays on time. Never had an issue with them, Completed 4 for them last week, 2 more next week, probably 18-20 so far this year. Love em and will take all I can get and be happy to do so.

Why not add them to Signing Central.

*Why not add them to Signing Central.*
Marilyn, Thanks for continuing to remind people about Signing Central. It's part of what really makes this site the best.

Perhaps I'll have a conversation with management cause they've called me several times. Don't want to chase my $$ again. I have no patience for that.

I've completed three so far for Champion. Two I've had to chase one was paid in two weeks. They still owe me three closings. We'll se how long it takes.
