Not me. Everytime they call me and I give them my fee they never call back so someone must be taking it. I would be losing money .

Do you think anyone would really admit to taking $45 signings?

Someone has too be taking them. I also give them my fee and do not receive a return call.

Yes, I completely understand. What I said was "ADMIT to taking $45 signings".
Like someone discussed recently, there are some that do this for "pocket change" vs. full time business, and are thrilled with a lousy $45 fee. Those of us who are in business, have expenses, pay taxes, etc., can't work for those low fees. Good for you for not accepting them, even if it hurts. Many of us turn down low-ballers all the time, or they know not to call us in the first place.

Not necessarily true that someone is taking the $45

It could be that THEY get worn down with hearing higher fees and just go with the last notary they called because they now know they can't get anyone cheaper. Put yourself in that Scheduler's shoes; made 3, 4, 5 calls, everyone quotes higher than $45... now are you going to go back to the 1st, 2nd etc. person (& find out they're booked or don't answer or, or, or)---or just take the bird in hand???

Re: Not necessarily true that someone is taking the $45

They called me last Friday for one Sat morning. Since it was further than I normally travel, I had them disclose the address so that I could price accordingly. Once I quoted them my fee, they said I was too high...I wasn't shocked since I knew how they would respond. Ironically, another SS called me later Fri afternoon for the same closing...and they were able to meet my fee. I guess, if Equifax cannot fill the order for CHEAP, than the order is offered out to other SS's.

Re: Not in this life time.

I had three calls from Equifax last Friday on the same loan. I declined twice on the electronic phone and later received a direct call from them. I told them my fee was $125.00 and they indicated they would try to get it approved. I never heard back from them so I assume they were able to place it below my quoted fee.
What makes me so mad is the time it takes to go through their phone menu and their attempt to beat you down when forced to call direct. However, they are fast becoming just one of many who practice the same policy.
