A question & a few suggestions, Chris...
What made you decide to give being an NSA a try? Your message says you're from AK (Alaska)...that's the default. Complete your profile. Using Orange Search button, also check Message 33325.

Re: A question & a few suggestions, Chris...
Lee....
- What made you decide to give being an NSA a try? I have worked for the same employer for 26 years now and with a bad economy you never know what can happen. Although this business can be effected by a bad economy as well I like working with people, has a passion for the law as I come from a family of them , and feel this is a challenge I could enjoy and grow over time. It appears many are reluctant to offer some guidance to get people started as they fear they are competing with them. This is not the case for me.
Your message says you're from AK (Alaska)...that's the default. Complete your profile. --- Corrected.....Thanks....
Using Orange Search button, also check Message 33325. _ This message was very helpful and thanks for pointing me to do it....Certainly tell it like it is !!!
Thanks....cjc.....

I'm curious
how do you equate "a passion for the law" with what we actually do ?

Re: I'm curious
Chrs - I don't think it's about fearing competition so much as it is about the masses that have had to leave this field due to the economy. We're talking individuals that worked long and hard to get established. We just wonder why anyone in their right mind would consider this field right now. Also we have seen so many newcomers scammed into thinking this is a easy money, sure fire, can't fail business just to get their money for training, bkg screens, supplies etc. Companies will not be knocking down your door to hire you - you have to be the one that hustles for the work - it's not handed to you just because you took a course thru XYZ. I think most of us just hate to see the scam being run on unsuspecting people. That said, I think the best way to decide is to READ everything on this board and all the others.........then you'l have to make the decision yourself. Good luck to you.

Re: I'm curious
Chris - Sandra happens to be correct. If I wasn't already doing this work, there is no way I could consider it now. My volume is presently at 25% of levels two years ago - nothin' to do with marketing or work quality.

Re: A question & a few suggestions, Chris...
I have two questions that came to mind from your posts that weren't addressed in the other posts. From your first message, you asked if anyone would be interested in mentoring you, as if there would be some kind of benefit to them. What possible incentive would anyone have for doing that? I notice you didn't offer to compensate them for their time.
"It appears many are reluctant to offer some guidance to get people started as they fear they are competing with them. This is not the case for me. "
How to you figure that? If you end up starting an NSA business, you'll be trying to compete with *someone* to get business -- and possibly someone who has been a long-time contributor to others on this board. Just by way of example (and this is not just directed at you, but at any other potential new NSA who doesn't get this point), if I help you, even though I'm across the country from you, I might be unwittingly back-stabbing someone in your neighborhood from whom I've learned a lot over the years. My loyalties go first to those who have helped me - even if indirectly - for many years now. And as others have said, this is a very tough market these days.
Having said all this, it sounds like you've done a few things right that sets you apart from many others. First of all, at least your request was nicely put! That's why the replies you received were as civil as they were. Secondly, it looks like you actually have read (or at least started to read) all the messages connected to the famous message 33325. That's just the starting point, just the basics. This business -- especially these days -- takes lots of hard work.
If you do decide to pursue this, please make sure you learn your state's notary law backwards and forwards before doing any signings - and best of luck to you!
