They are asking for a copy of drivers license, social security card, notary certificate and E&O. Also they asked for a resume and references.

Re: Nation Signature Closers - Pat
I never gave a copy of my drivers license to a company. Tell them because of ID theft you have been advised not to give copies of your drivers license or social security card to anyone. Hopefully you have an EIN and don't use your SS# It is legitimate to ask for a copy of your notary commission certificate. E&O does not cover them, only covers you - and only then for the notary portion of your work.
There was a notary in CA who several years ago was a victim of identity theft after giving drivers license and SS card to a signing company.

Re: Copy of Driver's License/Social Security
When requested of me, I block out my birth date and number on my driver's license. Never had anyone come back to me on that. Agree re: social security card/number. I use an EIN instead

I just got that email, too. I might send a W-9, but there's no excuse for asking for a copy of a ss card. Others covered the DL issue. Be sure to carefully read their agreement. There are some sections there that I couldn't agree to, especially the non-compete clause. Haven't yet decided how - or if - I will respond.
I've worked for them some in the past and don't recall any problems or issues.

I did two recent jobs for NSC - one in February and another in March 2009 and I received payment in 17 and 22 days. They usually only call me if someone cheaper is not available. They do require faxbacks.

Faxbacks
They always give you the faxback spiel when they call. I've been working from them for 6 years and I still have to hear the routine every time. Grrr. I just say ok. But I've talked to their TC on multiple occasions about it. I've got closings all day and I've told them I can't usually get faxbacks done until the evening, so if they want faxbacks they're not going to get docs the next day. They always said they'd rather have the docs sent off immediately. So as long as I'm getting docs out same day, I never faxback anything and I've never once heard from them about it (on closings with no RTCs I do send them their faxbacks).

They only call me @ the EOM and desperate. I charge full fee and no faxbacks.

Their contract states they pay $50 per assignment. Pretty low considering all the hoops they want you to jump through

$50!!! I wouldn't even start the car for that! It is an insult.

If we're talking about the same company (which I'm not so sure we are any more as I got paid much more than $50)....they itemize their fee...
Example:
Closing Fee..................$ 65.00
Print Fee......................$ 30.00
Extra Travel Fee..........$ 15.00
Total...........................$110.00
Now, you agree to $100 to do the signing...if for some reason they end up overnighting the package to you, they deduct the $30 print fee automatically and you're issued a check for $80.00 for the signing.

Nation Signature closers
I have a problem with their non-compete in their independent contractor agreement. Did everyone sign this contract?

Re: Nation Signature closers
Ask them to sign a "non-compete" with you, that they won't solicit any of the title companies you work for
As an independent contractor I would never sign a non-compete agreement.
