Nations Direct
Anyone having problems with payment? I did a closing on 4 hours notice and have not been paid for almost 2 months.

I'ver never had a payment problem with Nations Direct. They pay as promised. They pay the following month after closing and send a lump sum payment for all the closings you completed for the month. For example, if you did a closing for them in early March, and a couple more towards the end of March, you should receive a check totalling all the March closings by the end of April/very early May.

I agree with Kay. They are very straightforward with their process - you may not like it, but you know what to expect. Their business model revolves around hiring the very cheapest notaries and handholding them by calling to check on them at every step. Payment is at the end of the month AFTER your appointment, so you can expect to go 60 days if you do a signing at the beginning of the month. It's up to you whether they are worth the hassle or not (and whether you can get a decent fee in your area).

They called me the third time now for a closing that was supposed to be at 6:00, then 8:00, now 9:00...and I turned them down all three times. Didn't want to pay me $150 to drive 20 miles with about what I estimate to be a 30 page faxback. Docs still aren't ready. I'd do it in my office for $125, but not walking out the door for less than that.
I've NEVER done a closing for these folks, and after reading the comments, I can see why. LOL
She just called me back and said they'd pay $150. After reading the comments on here, I told her I'm going to have to pass. Some signing companies just aren't worth working for. Don't know what the page count is on Edocs, buy I also charge an extra $25 for Edocs over 110 pages. I'd rather get some other work done than mess with these folks. You guys print and sign away! Enjoy!
I think I'll just skip this company.
JJ
HOW can folks possibly be doing this crap for $30 - $60? Are you insain? LOL I'm over the minimum and nearing the maximum with my basic print fee and faxback fee! I wouldn't take a closing for these folks on my worst day for less than $100. I think I'll just pass on them altogether and put them on my NO list. PLUS you don't bill at the time of closing, you have to send them a monthly bill? BS
It appears to me that ONLY EXTREMELY DESPERATE NOTARIES do closings for this company. Go work an hour at McDonald's washing dishes for an hour and you will net more than what you can net on the minimum closing fee for this company.
I'm NOT saying I will never do a closing for them, but I won't do one unless they agree to my full fee as well as agree to pay it Net 30, with billing at closing.

Just say NO!….By the time you add up your time, printing, equipment, gas, insurance, and other expenses, You will make more (gross) by staying home. To say nothing about the $125 signing that you may have to turn down because you are committed to these cheepo’s! Things are changing…Let’s all keep our fees to where we can keep doing this…PLEASE!

I have no qualms with canceling a Nations Direct closing and taking an assignment from another company that pays much more and quicker than them. Believe me I have done that. And I did let them know as recently as last week that they need to get with the times and pay notaries a decent wage if they expect folks to work for them.

They have deactivated my work file pending management review because a borrower got ticked off with me. I guess it will be no big loss if it turns out to be a permanent deactivation, based on what some of you are saying.

TERRIBLE
way to run a business and a great way to put yourself out of business. Where do you draw your line? $5 increase, $25? How about mileage? Take an order an hour's drive away ...get another call for a 10 minute drive ... cancel the first? What about taking an order for a full FHA with 150+ pages and then getting a call for a 50 page HELOC? Do you cancel the first because the HELOC is easier? Just wondering, again, how and where you draw that line.
As for telling them how to run their business, get real ... they've been in business before you were and will last long after you do.
If you don't like their fee, don't take their work.

Re: TERRIBLE
Sorry, but Nations Direct does not offer much loyalty to their long standing, best notaries either. If you've been working with them for years and they refuse to give an increase in pay for at least traveling to the far places (and why are they calling me to drive 25+ miles for only $40-$60 when there are supposedly other notaries on their roster closer to the location they want to send you?) and instead choose to move on to another notary, then hey, that's what they get!
That's why I'll only consider doing closings for them which are super close to home (within 7-8 mile radius or up to a 15 minute drive). They now know better than to call me for anything further than that (and some of their people have already gotten the message and only send me closings as such, which, by the way, are quite a few, thank you).
