Notary Biz
I did a closing for this company and its been 40 days and I have still not been paid. I called and asked if they could tell me when payment will be made and she said their accounting department was extremely busy and had 170 closings just today and that she didn't have time to tell me. She was very rude and I told her I had been emailing and calling several times before today. They didn't seem to care that I was waiting on my payment. I'm tired of doing these closings and you do everything your supposed to do and on time, but they don't offer the same courtesy. I will not do anything for these people again.

I have a signing with them at 4:30 and still haven't receive
documents. Talk about last minute and it will take me at least a half an hour to get there. I refused to sign contract, maybe they don't need me. I'll keep all posted. Oops just came in. Got to go.

If you don't mind waiting on payment or maybe not getting it at all. They did the same thing with me with the docs. It was the very last minute and by the time you print them and print the borrower copies, it takes time.

I have no info on these people. Just a suggestion…… if you have anyone you want to keep as a customer, and they are in the lending/title/signing service business, the busiest day on the EOM is really not the time to call and discuss a billing issue. Call them the first week on the month…you may get better results…Unless they’re deadbeats…then it doesn’t matter.

Some business practices that might save a lot of grief: a) I don't accept any rush jobs--I won't make up for lost time due to title searches, appraisal approvals, etc., b) I keep to my fee schedule, which I have in writing and have the client respond with a confirmation of the fee. c) I only work with title, and mortgage companies--allows me to charge realistic fees for services performed, including nice touches, d) I fax back closing status, shippers tracking numbers, etc as part of the process--its appreciated, e) I keep a list of companies in the car and at home who have been approved--scrubbed through NotaryBeware and NotaryRotary feedback. It seems to be working thus far.

Because they told you that? I'd bet no one called, but on the other hand they probably monitor the board and read your post...

real. Just a coincidence that I had a signing yesterday with them and mentioned your recent post to Liz.

40 days isn't really something to complain about. Some companies pay at 45 days, some at 60. It would be nice if they all paid in 30, but that doesn't happen. I have a wide range of payment schedules--some pay in a week, some close to 60 days. This is a business and it's best to get a company's payment terms up front. This was a bad time of month to call them o a payment issue, as someone has already said.

I've NEVER had an issue re: pymt w/this co.... Also....
Why are you blaming the signing service for when the docs come over? They have NO control over the docs. Usually the biggest culprit when it comes to late docs is the lender. And for the person who was complaining about docs being sent over only 2 hrs in advance, that is the norm for many co.'s. I even think The Notary Biz's confirmation states that docs may often come over only 2 hrs before closing time. Normally I do not start making calls until that 2hr period has been reached, unless I have specifically requested them being sent over earlier.
Also, IMO Liz is GREAT to work with.

...Why are you blaming the signing service for when the docs come over? They have NO control over the docs....
I agree with you in most instances; however, not always. Yesterday I had an order at noon through a CA signing service - title company was here on the east coast. I was told I'd have everything Thursday night. I got in late and there was nothing. I spend part of my Friday a.m. trying to figure out what is going on ... I am not paid to figure this stuff out, it's the siging service's job but they're fast asleep in CA while I'm here on the east coast up and attempting to work. I finally get the docs a few minutes after 11:00 a.m.. I've got to print and get there. I've got questions that I had on Thursday (because the parties started calling me when they couldn't get answers) and if I'd have had docs Thursday evening I could have figured some if it out myself and made phone calls early Friday. This was a purchase so I don't expect anyone in CA to understand what that means here on the east coast. Did I mention that I got the docs a few minutes after 11:00 a.m.? Docs were sent at 7:45 a.m. to the signing service from the title company - a 3.25 hour gap. If they want to take east coast work, someone should be working east coast hours.

"If they want to take east coast work, someone should be working east coast hours."
I couldn't agree with this statement more. Had the same type thing on Fri - docs sent Thurs nite, but someone in N. Fl and different name. Don't know if the 11am signing, which I received, went or not, but mine was late as I couldn't reach a soul till 11:30 and then took them 2 hours to get correct docs to me. I guess they were having one of their "Friday meetings" in the office, and the rest of us be damned. Almost feel that if they feel no sense of urgency, why should I.

I also agree with "if they want to take east coast work, someone should be working east coast hours". I dropped one ss because I was left hanging with no docs & couldn't reach anyone by phone (this happened several times). I can't do business that way. I work with another ss that has someone in their office at 6 am (9am our time). I can always reach them.

Re: disagree
So True, I almost had to reschedule one for this AM due to the fact that the docs were not sent last night as promised and had to wait last minute for them to "open up" so I could reach someone to send them to me. They sent them right over, so I know they were ready to go...but the SS was not in to forward them to me. In the end I was only late15 minutes and the BO was very understanding about it all.

the reverse could be said, too
<<<If they want to take east coast work, someone should be working east coast hours. >>>
If "they" want to dole out west coast work - 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm PST signings, someone should be available to answer questions during west coast hours - 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm EST. MHO

My thoughts exactly. We all have the same problem.
For east coast clients, there is hardly ever anyone available by phone for questions during the hours we are most likely to be at the signing table. Actually, this may be one area where the signing services may have an edge. But some EOs will offer a cell phone, just in case, which is always appreciated. [Now, the LOs will offer a phone number, but hardly ever answer it. Go figure...]

There are a few who just don't have the appearance of caring at all. Strictly 9-5, for all time zones, to it really is noon to 2pm (CA 9am, FL 5pm) but then everyone goes to lunch. LOL Once that order is yours, it's yours to run with in whatever fashion. Conversely, there are babysitters who just won't leave you alone...I almost prefer the former

I just got a call from this company Notary Biz, for a signing in California and I am so glad I just read your post. I do research before I work with any company. I read that this company is either not paying, is paying with in 60 days or is a low ball company. Well they were going to pay my fee for the signing. But after investigating I decided to call them and tell them that I am not doing the signing for them due to the negative feedback on certain notary sites. I do this not only for myself but for other notaries who have been ripped off. We are professionals and we rely on this income and for companies to take advantage of our services is disgusting so I say to all you notaries out there investigate before you take a job and stick to your fees.

Re: Notary Biz, inked on April 24 and . . .
promised by Liz that I would be paid in 30 days. As of today no response to follow-up emails or status of money due. Before taking this signing I spoke to Liz about another notary having a problem and she insured me that this was resolved. I will keep you updated. C'mon Notary Biz follow through with what we agreed.

Re: Notary Biz, inked on April 24 and . . .
Phoned Andy to check on status. A young lady by the name of Amber answered and said that check was sent on 5/11. I asked her for check number and she said she couldn't retrieve that info. until someone got in office (only 6:30 CA time). She said she would call me back with status. Waiting to hear about the whereabouts of payment.

Received check on June 6. Appears that they pay in about 40 days. Thank you Liz.
