RELS
Does anyone here know if RELS hires directly or goes through a signing service?

My experience with RELS in NC is that they hire attorneys and settlement companies to prepare the hud/docs and that the attorney/settlement company either does mailaways or uses NSA's. I worked for the law firm here that used to do all the RELS/Wells Fargo Closings in the state.
From what my old friend at RELS tells me, each state is allowed to run things the way they see fit.

Thanks Lisa We have our mortgage through Wells Fargo Financial. With the interest rates dropping we decided to refinance to get a lower interest rate, and are going through Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. RELS Settlement hired the appraiser, so I am assuming they are the settlement company responsible for the closing. If they are using the notary direct, that is OK. If they are using a signing company that has a good reputation and pays the notary well and on time, then it is OK. Otherwise I want them to send me docs and I will get my own notary and pay them what I usually pay signing agents.
I was a little perturbed when I did a Google search on RELS and saw there were some class action suits involving the appraisers they use, so that is something I am going to have to check too, that they are only charging for what they paid the appraiser on the Appraiser fees.
Hopefully they will either an experienced notary directly or they will use a reputable signing service that pays the notary well and on time.

Re: RELS...Sylvia
We have Wells Fargo too and we're refinancing (in fact, a 2nd shot to take cash out this time) - they're sending the docs directly to us.

Re: RELS...Sylvia
I asked the Loan Processor if they could send the docs directly to me and he said it was up to the settlement company (which is RELS) When we originally refinanced a few years ago with Wells Fargo, it was Wells Fargo Financial and it was all done in their office.

Re: RELS...Sylvia
We went through the whole process a month ago...and decided at the 11th hour to take cash out - so we rescinded that one and the new one is in process now...I have the docs in my file cabinet that we didn't sign...
Everything came directly from Wells Fargo - it closes at or near the end of the month and they don't do escrows...we have to set the escrows up later...
This is the "No-Closing-Cost" option we're doing.

Re: RELS=Wells Fargo
Just so ya know, RELS is wholey owned by Wells and has a huge valuation department that contracts appraisers directly.
I've worked for RELS Valuations I didn't know they did settlement too.

Re: RELS=Wells Fargo
Yes, I know they are owned by Wells Fargo. I know they contract appraisers directly (that is where the class action lawsuits are)

RELS in Florida can hire direct, but since they do not have a data base of NSA most EOs just call the SS they use here in FL. One of our network members just took a FT job @ RELS and she is assigning the work directly and trying get others on board.

I recently refi'd my home but told the title company that I had my own notary who would notarize the documents and to NOT charge me for that. It worked and my friend took care of notarizing the docs for me. I also got them to e-mail me the docs so I could go thru them before the closing just to make sure everything was according to Hoyle! Glad I did that because I saw where they actually DOUBLED some of the costs that were on the Good Faith Estimate and I told them I would refuse to sign the docs unless they came off their high horse and made these particular payments in line with the Good Faith Estimate. That also worked. Good Luck. Monica

Thanks Monica I plan on asking them to e-mail me the docs. If the loan officer wants to get paid and make money, then they will do as I request. I can always cancel the loan. Only doing it for a lower interest rate, if we don't go through with the loan with Wells Fargo it is no big deal. We may wait a couple of months to see if interest rates come down some more and then go through another company. I had been thinking of ING but it looks like their mortgage loans are ARM's (we have savings accounts and a debit card account through ING)

Move the party to CA and I'll do it.
Grab a cheap flight and the signings free...go ahead, bring Becca and Linda and the whole gang... then while you hens are having what you call a party Bruce and I can head down to my local (regionally famous) sausage company and smokehouse and get some bacon and keilbasa and maybe a steak or two. Good heart food.
How's he doin' anyway???

"How's he doin' anyway???"
You're asking this at the wrong time unfortunately! An hour ago I would have said "Fine" But he walked into the kitchen, felt dizzy and grabbed hold of the refrigerator. I asked if he was OK and he said he would be fine. But then he walked towards the kitchen sink and "hit the deck". Neither I nor the housekeeper could pick him up. I went across the street for my neighbour - she's a nurse - she came over and by then he was up. But there was blood all over the kitchen floor. I think his glasses slipped and cut into his head, it was bleeding and his nose was also bleeding. He's on blood thinners so that didn't help. Brenda (my neighbour) checked him over and took him to the community hospital to get stitches in his head, it is pretty deep gash. So I am just waiting for them to get back.

Re: Prayers for Bruce, Sylvia...
He just called from the hospital. Going to be there a while. They want to do some X-Rays and a CT Scan. Also, he may have broken his nose. He says he is probably going to have 2 beautiful black eyes. His blood pressure is way low, which was probably why he went down.

Blood pressure too low...
Probably due to deficiency of smokes meats!!!
Tell him I said keep pluggin' and don't follow all the rules all the time...especially doctors' rules.
You can make up a great story about two black eyes!
Blessings on both of ya.

Oh he's probably thinking up some good stories to explain black eyes - pretty sure I'll figure into them <g>
His BP was 72/59

Hospital is admitting him
I just called the hospital to find out what is going on. They said they are admitting him overnight for observation. I called him on the cell phone to let him know he will be there overnight. They hadn't told him yet.
